I would personally try to run away in the first instance, failing that, thumbs in the eye. Though, in the heat of the moment, when people are being mauled by a dog, it turns into a frantic punch fest, ie. kick and punch as fast as you can, uncontrollably.
 
If a dog like an Alsation can bring a man down when used in relatively controlled circumstances by the police then I'm sure a really ****** off dog could own most people.

Usually its children getting bitten on the face or other dogs, Ive never seen an incident one on one with a man in the news.

Its possible, just not easy.
 
If you have ever played tug with a big dog then you will know how strong they really are.

We had a golden retriever and the amount of force he could put on your arms when playing tug with his toy was amazing. When he was about a year old he could pull me across the floor if I stood on his rug. (I would have been about 12 stone then)

We now have a labrador retriever cross which is about 10 weeks old and it's already pure muscle and can put up a good fight.

Both of these dogs are just normal family dogs, and wouldn't hurt a fly. But if they are that strong when just playing then I really don't want to know what a bigger dog would do to me when angry.
 
I'm sorry but >99% of humans (and I'm sure everyone on this forum) would get absolutley anhialated by a large dog such as an Alsatian or a Pit Bull (or even a Labrador). We have an Alsatian, and he isn't particularly strong for his breed, but even when playing, he is immenesly strong and fast (And most dogs are rock hard too- he's accidentally had a few things hit him hard in the face when he's really worked up and not even flinch). As I said virtually no human would stand a chance against him if he were angry.

As far as I can see, wrapping something around your arm and coercing the dog to go for it will simply result in the dog tearing the article to shreds and then briging you down in a single attack.

so what do you reckon is the most aggressive/strongest/fierce dog that you reallly wouldnt wanna have to fight lol, doberman? pitt bull? rott weiler? Alsation?

Ive done that before, i was protecting my dog.. This dog slyly ran up and bit her, it ran off but came back for more, as it started to ran i pulled my dog behind me and full on volleyed tihs dog in the face.

It yelped and ran off.
 
didn't read most of thread,

you'd have no chance if it was a large dog, most medium sized dogs will do damage but you could probably fight them off using your weight advantage.
 
A lot of people seem to be underestimating dogs in here. Watch those 2 videos posted and you'll see just how fast and agile dogs are. they can also take a ******* good beating.

If a dog started mauling me I'd just keep kicking it in the head and hope for the best.

Totally agree, if a dog was properly intent on hurting you then your not gonna have any time to think about poking it in the eyes, sticking hand down throat etc etc.

That American police man (in the above youtube clip) didn't exactly look like a wimp and he couldn't kick it. If they hadn't of tazered the dog it would have done some damage!
