Fighting a dog

My labrador is pretty strong and heavy but doesn't really have the teeth to shred you. My dog is more likely to lick you and beg for food as a form of attack.

Labs actually have a really strong bite - obviously not up there with rottweilers, pitbulls and other devil dogs, but enough to do some serious damage. The other thing about Labs though is that they are extremely good natured - something that owners of devil dogs always say applies to their dogs as well, but somehow you actually believe it with Labradors :p

This guy, my Sister's dog, would seriously lick you to death. He's daft as the proverbial brush! Although that said, no matter what you do you'll never pull his favourite rope toy from his mouth.

ok I've been thinking and this is my idea.....

As the dog is sprinting right at you, wind up the biggest kick of your life and just when it gets to the right range, unleash a massive boot into the face/head/throat/etc of the dog...

obviosuly this might be difficult due to the dog's speed but ideally you could time it right and the punt will ruin the dog due to it's own speeD!

worth a try haha...

A kick would be difficult due to the speed and also the height that dogs seem to be at, when their mouths make contact with a human. The human could punch the dog as it arrives though (punching is faster than a kick, but not as devastating).

I know a lot of people on this forum are saying that a human would stand no chance, but if it were a fight to the death I think it wouldn't be a walkover. In all the videos we have seen, the dog seems to bite once and doesnt let go, this allows a human to repeatedly punch the dog as the dog is not frantically moving about. The dog probably wont let go until it is virtually unconscious. Another thing is that in all those videos, the humans did not fight back. The one incident where the cop fought back (tazered the dog), the dog ran away.

If you try and out muscle/wrestle the dog, you will lose, but if we use our superior intelligence, then I think the odds are suddenly evened out.

My girlfriend is a police dog handler and there's no way I'd want to fight her dog (German Shepherd)

Last Friday there was an incident with a man weilding a samurai sword (and 2 large kitchen knives), when she set the dog after him he dropped the sword and legged it (the dog still caught him though) If he didn't fancy his chances with those weapons I don't think many unarmed people would stand a chance!

If the man decided to make a stand and fight the dog, he would have a 50/50 chance of killing the dog. If he strikes and the blade makes contact with the dog as it arrives, the dog is dead. If he misses, then the dog has him. Even then, if the human had kitchen knives, he could allow the dog to grab his arm (this will cause bleeding and puncture wounds to the human). Once the dog has locked onto his arm, the human can slice the dog's throat (or indeed any part of its body). The dog will die as the human will have adrenaline flowing through his/her body. The human will not stop slicing/stabbing until the dog is no longer moving.

The man probably made a run for it because he pannicked or he didnt want to kill the dog.

If an animal is coming at me, with the intent to bite/kill, the love for animals and their rights is superseded by the right of the human to not be bitten/mauled by a beast. :p

Ive done that before, i was protecting my dog.. This dog slyly ran up and bit her, it ran off but came back for more, as it started to ran i pulled my dog behind me and full on volleyed tihs dog in the face.

It yelped and ran off.

Was it a poodle dog? lol.

Love to see anyone try and start with a pedigree pitbull. I bet you would run a mile.

I'm bracing myself from the flak for this but it is true, i swear. There is a nutcase of a fella i know where i live, none of the hardened bouncers in the town would dream of taking him on - he really is a freak of nature. I'm fortunate that he is the cousin of my closest friend. Basically, he was attacked by a Rotty whilst working as a security guard, according to his colleagues he beat the poor dog to death!

My pedigree staffy was crazy:
