Just picked this game up for £1 and tried to install it, but it lags too much to be playable.
I've tried turning the graphics down to 1024x768, all options to minimum/off but it still lags. 1.4 patch is installed.

The thing I don't get is that the minimum specs on the box are 266Mhz/8Mb graphics. So even with everything on minimum, my 1.7Gh\ 128Mb go5650 should be able to cope with it...

Am I doing something wrong? :/

1.7Ghz Centrino, 1Gb ram, 128Mb go5650 graphics, running XP SP2.

And thanks, Memphis, I wasn't entirely sure where to post it, and general hardware seemed as good a place as any.

This game slaughtered my GF3 when it was out - I doubt you'll get good performance tbh..

I loved this game when it first come out and still have the big styled box you used to get with PC games back then.

I think I ran it on a P3 500 with 512 or 1gb of ram and a TNT2 Graphics card.

I remember it being a pain in the butt to find decent multiplayer servers for the game and it was great fun with all the races and building things hehe.

Loved the quirky british humour the game had in single player to :D

Exactly! Its 7 years old, so why isn't it running on 4 year old hardware ._.

Also, mine is the big boxed version too. Brought back memories :D

Did a search on this... look how old the post is :(

Awesome game, 3 games in one even, given each character you play's unique abilities. Came free with a geForce 4400.
Anyone who wants to try it or got put off by stuttering framerates etc. turn your sound accereration down Apply the blood/nudity patch too :)
Developer Planet Moon's next PC game 'Armed & Dangerous' was nowhere near as fun, but the humour, just like Giants, was pretty pant wetting in places.
I think Planet Moon gave up on the PC platform after that :(
