Ive been using programs like, Winamp, Media Player and Media Monkey to Organise my Music, but I have got a music Collection of labout 11,000 songs.

The Problem is these programs keep loosing track of my sons, delinging songs, forgetting where there stroed so I ahve to manually relink them to the file.

Can anybody recommend anysoftware that could do a better job, for a large music collection like mine

Also, What kind of software do Radio Stations use, As i hear most of them store there Music as Mp3s now, and im sure they dont use Windows Media Player :)

p.s. I forgot to add, I like it to have certain features like Media Player had, where I can view the Individual Albums and all congs of a certain Genra and It has to look nice :p

Thanks
Chris

another for itunes. certainly seems to fit the bill for what you're after. though it's a little sucky in Windows

iTunes tbh seen it handle 40,000+ song libraries with little problem.

Foobar might be something to check out, haven't tried it myself though.

'nother vote for iTunes here. Better on the mac than it is on the PC, but the PC version is passable, and it can deal with lots of songs efficiently on both platforms.

The latest WMP is terrible from my experience, it's slow, sluggish, terrible to navigate and always makes tracks jump and skip about 30 seconds before the end

doesnt do any of that for me :/

if anything id say itunes was more slugish too , especially with album art etc

what are you doing? it sounds like your changing file names, route directories ect. If there all losing the file I doubt I tunes or any other software will keep them. You must be doing something to the files.

I can't believe all the votes for iTunes! It's horrible with large libraries.

Foobar for me without a doubt. Can use ASIO drivers, has much better tagging/file management tools (most of this through plugins admittedly), and is more responsive and uses less resources (iTunes uses 80mb of RAM on my machine, that's ridiculous - foobar uses 25mb with the same library loaded).

On that note, anyone know of a usable alternative to iTunes for managing files on an iPod?

Nope, sometimes I will load up Windows Media Player, and when I go to search for some songs, The listing for the song will be there, but It will then say that it can not find the file. I dont change or move any file/folder
