Hiya all,

I've recently got hold of a X850XT and I want to use it in my system to replace my current card.

The question is, curently the model I have in my possession is the Sapphire 256MB X850XT and I would really like to change the stock 2-slot cooler for something else.
Mostly I want to change it because I know its pretty hot and noisy.

I would like to find out please if anyone knows if X1800/X1900 range coolers are compatible with a X850XT, as I cant seem to locate any details if or not they are compatible.

I want to buy one of the arctic cooling accelero X2's or the thermaltake TMG AT1/AT2 and I have no idea if they will fit an X850XT.

If someone could please indicate if they have managed to fit one that would really help me out.

Cheers. :)

to be honest, I have the same card and I just wouldn't bother.

it's just not worth spending money on as any fan will probably cost more than the card is worth. unfortunately :(

I got the card free... And as far as I can tell, its as fast in raw speed as the 8600GT which I currently have.

To be honest, its mostly because its a better supported card and I have gotten sick of using Windows Vista/DX10... Its slow for no good reason and I'm ready to go back to XP again, sadly.

The only real problem I see for my setup is that the X850XT has a mahoosive heatsink which is gonna be noisy.

Anyone else think this plan is not worth the effort, but also does anyone know if X1800/X1900 coolers will fit an X850XT?

Cheers all.

I would imagine this would be ok: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-024-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=787

I did use one of THESE on my x850xt and it was simply awesome. Overclocked the card by a massive margin and still got load temps of no more than 55c.

They are discontinued now but i'm sure you could track one down somewhere.

Thanks dude, I think I might seriously consider buying that passive one you have suggested. I was ideally looking for something passive, and I'm not sure if I want to overclock the GFX in this setup. I just want it to be fast-ish and quiet.
