Whos ditching 8800 GT for new rev GTS?

Depends on Pricing I guess.
I have 2 GTs that I got a rock bottom prices, so may actually profit from their sale, if I decide to sell at all.
Also depends on the new GTS performance benchmarks.

If it magically play crisis at very high with good fps (which I dont think it will) then I may change. Shouldnt lose much on the GT with stock being the way it is.

Thats my thinking.

If the new GTS is 250+ then I will not upgrade.

The extra SP's will not be worth the extra money IMO.

Again depends on how fast it is, Im willing to pay if it realy is that good. But Im expecting it to be pritty much a GTX in which case it just wont be worth it.

The GT is very close.

So unless there is magic with the GTS even though it still has a 256bit bus then if it commands an extra 100 on the GT then it will not be worth it.

Most people are assuming that the G92 GTS will be faster than the GT, but surely that would be even more confusing, as you would have a GTS that's slower than a GT, and another GTS that's faster than a GT?

I can understand NV wanting to move all production to 65nm, but surely a replacement card (as opposed to a refresh, like the GT) should have roughly the same performance as the card it's replacing?

I've managed to shift my 2900XT so i'll be going 8800GT.

I'm thinking of going for the EVGA model so i'll have the step-up option. Pity that EVGA are being a bit obscure with their shipment to OcUK.

I'll wait and see benchmarks, prices, and reaction before I make the decision though.

I don't think the word 'ditching' is suitable btw

It implies that nVidias latest and greatest 8800GT is somehow 'old tech'

Why?

The GT is not old tech.

Stop being pedantic.

Who's getting rid of GT for new GTS?
Who's selling on the GT for new GTS?
Who's dropping the GT for new GTS?

Stop mincing my words when its clear in post 3 you know exactly what I meant by answering the question.

It will be.

G92 core and an extra 16 SP's
Yeah, I know it looks faster on paper, but why release a "replacement GTS" that's faster than a GT?

Surely it would have made more sense if they had released the current GT as the new GTS, and then introduce the new (faster) 128sp card as the GT?

That would maintain the current naming logic of GTX > GT > GTS
