Crossfire on P35 based mobos

Anyone has any experience with it?

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2990&p=3

There they compared it to 975X which is x8/x8 configuration and it seemed to outperform it...

End point is, is it worth going Crossfire on p35? I am thinking about HD3870XT Crossfire or maybe HD3870 X2 when they are available.

If wanting Xfire,go x38 and get the full 16x lanes.

Might aswell if you have not already ordered your mobo.

Working fine for me with two 3870's, infact, when I tested my single 2900XT in the 4x slot and the 16x slot, the difference was negligable.

I have just ordered a 3850 and wondered how a second one would perform in the X4 slot.

So it will run fine then:)

Can anyone give any insight as to whether HD3870 Crossfire would work on the P5W64-WS? I have the money to upgrade the motherboard but as my system is Vapo'd I'd rather not bother for the time being if I can help it - I'll probably do it when I switch over to watercooling.

P5W64-WS (975X chipset) has 4 PCI-E slots and runs with either a 16x/0x/4x/0x or 8x/8x/0x/8x configuration. Will 4x totally bottleneck a HD3870?
