Lovely Wolver-ampton!
So, I'm not really bothered about the ability to download tv progs or whatever the 120gb hdd will be for. I'm sure 20gb is enough for save games and the occassional demo? right?

and it's going to be hooked up to my samsung 20" monitor via the VGA connection, so i'm not fussed about hdmi for now. (can anyone rec a decent console to vga cable?)

is there a usb port(s) on the console so i can use a wireless dongle?

are there any reasons for getting the elite that i've not spotted??

and, i actually prefer the white xbox to the black one.

hmm. so i appear to have typed myself into the premium, but i'll wait for the response of my leanred formum amigos.

:)

Well you said you don't need the space. Most Prems come with a HDMI port now anyway so it's a bonus.

Yep the console has 2 USB ports on the front and one on the back. You can only use official wireless receiver.

If you want a VGA cable always always go official with any console.

Didnt know that. Some guy on another website was claiming that he was using a £20 reciver and it worked :S

Premium.

Putting the HDMI port on the Premium was a bad move in business terms for MS, that was one of the major advantages the Elite had over the Premium. Now all you get is a much bigger HDD (which most don't need) and a black console (which looks worse than the white version imo). Not sure if the Elite has an extra 5.1 connection as well, but even still, it's no great improvement over the Premium.

Don't see how it's bad. It's just not the strong point of the Elite. Also you really think it's wise to say MS made a bad business move? They are the biggest company in the world after all.

Also the 120GB hdd will be used for what's coming in the next update. Marketplace and IPTV PVR.

Not sure what you mean by a extra TOSlink connection but it does come with the adapter.

The HDMI port was one of the main advantages the Elite had over the Premium. I don't think it makes sense to remove that advantage, but that's just my opinion.

Which the majority won't use (and still doesn't require the extra space, although it obviously would come in useful).

I did say I wasn't sure about this, just heard something about the Elite being easier to connect to 5.1 in conjunction with HDMI.

Cos he said so. :s

LOL

Seems sensible to go for the Premium as I have no desire to download TV - it's crap anyway. There's very little I watch in TV.

20Gb is fine for saves and a demo or two. I don't see that people will store tonnes of demos, just play for a bit and decide if it's worth buying the full game.

Is there no "tweak" to use an external USB drive yet?

ah. have just spotted that you can use a usb external drive but not for storing marketplace and live content.

I have an Elite but to be honest I would recommend the Premium, I have around 98GB left and that is never going to be used. Like Nokkon said, only get an Elite if you a) find a good deal or b) anal about the looks. Luckily I got a good deal so plumped for that.

Because the V2 is the same as elite, the only 2 differences are the colour (obvious) and the disk size, the V2 has the HDMI slot just like the elite.

No difference performance wise.

Yeh so how the the Premium better than the Elite? It's better for his needs yeh but it's not the better console.

premiums 20GB is more than enough space for gamesaves and demos.

just dont know what its going to be like when they launch this xbox originals/movie rental/TVonDemand service.

Does the Elite not have a HD-DVD player inbuilt? I am presuming the Premium does not? I have just bought a Premium which does have a HDMI output, although I use the HDTV cable plugged into the component sockets on my tv (tis the cable it came with). I did not go Elite because I could not justify watching hd-dvd films for the additional cost and the hard disc would not be used that much?

Have I not got my info right? Does it not play HD-DVD? Or does the Premium with HDMI now play HD-DVD? I am presuming it does not.

Also, will the HDMI socket be better going in to my LCD's HDMI socket, than it is currently going from standard cable to component?

Thanks (apologies for my poooor knowledge :)
