Mario Galaxy - Official Thread

Will probably get to play this tonight at my friends house, I'll post my all important opinion tomorrow.

Bought my Mrs' a Wii for Christmas.. when considering games to buy her I just had to get Mario Galaxy.

...she can stick to Wii Sports ;)

I saw it in action last night and it's soo trippy, it's really disorienting but really cool at the same time :D

I don't even know why they bother with a storyline anymore theres no real need for the masses of dialogue, I don't think theres a person alive who doesn't know the plot to Mario games :p

In this year of great game releases, this is goty. I intended to get an early night last night and just collect a few stars, then suddenly 4 hours has vanished. I felt like a kid who'd snuck into the living room to play video games while his parents were asleep. Awesome game :)

picked this up last night..... all im going to say is, its the best game ive played this year by a mile

I've managed to get to 55 stars, including a couple of the extras and have just encountered the toy town....it's driving me nuts :)

It's one of the best games i've played in years, even when I kept dying earlier whilst trying to do a boss level (it took me about an hour just to get to the boss...) it wasn't as frustrating as many games for some reason.

The Toy Time Galaxy is ace, or at least the first star was. Like Mario does Shadow of the Collosus. Fell off once right near the top and thought I was screwed.

So far I'm enjoying it, but I'm not getting "Best Game Ever" from it, or even game of the year. It has fun levels, but after flying through space and doing cool stuff, I find the flatter, more traditional worlds less fun. Plus, only that Toy Time star, the Bubble one and Rocky Road have really been any challenge.

Couldn't resist waiting 'til Christmas. :( Got it Wednesday, currently on 80 stars at the Toytime Galaxy (with the 3 green stars & completed Trial Galaxies [easier than SMW's Star Road = wtf]) at about 13 hours. Been overdoing it/racing through it so going to calm down for the next 40 stars.

It's such an awesome game, but I'm finding it strange when people say it's M64's true sequel. IMO it definitely shares a lot of characteristics with Sunshine, and many moments in its design have left me thinking so...

The artistic direction is incredible, as is the control scheme and concept. Only complaint is that it's a bit too easy. It definitely tops Sunshine, but I don't think it's as good as SM64. I wasn't expecting it to be better though, so it's no problem. Still up to my expectations.

Excuse disjointed typing, my mind is all ower the shop from too much playing. :P

I havent played any mario games for years, I cant even recall ever buying one (saying that the last N console I owned was an N64, and I had to sell it shortly after getting Wave Race 64 brand new - dont recall tradional mario being available that early)

This is the first game to really tempt Me to get a wii and if I can find one that isnt a rip off then I will get one, otherwise I will wait for some lightsaber action:)

Am loving the game to bits - only up to 46 stars at the moment but It's all been such fun - given my housemates a go on the occasional level and they seem to enjoy it too - definately my favourite game on my Wii at the moment (closely followed by 4 player Strikers ;))

Got this yesterday for my boy and we've enjoyed it greatly. A nice feature is the second player being able to collect the gem things and shoot the bad guys. Plus it gives him something to do when I take over :D

up to 21 stars

The game is not supposed to be hard, if it was hard it would detract from the pure joy that is playing it... im currently up to 80 stars and only a couple of them have annoyed me so far, every other star has been amazing fun.

The game isn't perfect, the camera annoys me from time to time, but it is still the best game i have played in many many years, and yes i think its better than m64

Correct my previous statement, the Toy Time galaxy is fantastic, full stop.

Dusty Dunes is pretty fun too, and the speedy comet on that is enjoyably difficult. Was trying to do the second ball level (from the green star) earlier, and that looked like a pain too.

There's still a few levels I'm not sold on though. I pretty much skipped through quite a few when more started to open up - I've done the first star on about 6-7 galaxies, and no more after that.

It sounds silly, but I like the harder levels. I like the frustration of not quite being able to get the star a few times, and swearing like a trooper every time I mess up. It makes it the more satisfying when I actually complete it.

I've not seen it so far, and I think I can see where most of the 120 stars will come from. Is he not thinking of Super Paper Mario?

well completed it last night only getting 61 stars.

amazing game kinda rushed into it as want to get COD4 and Assassins creed :p. Already sold Galaxy, might buy it again when it's cheap though just to get the extra stars.
