Sports Personality of the Year 2007 Predictions

If Hatton does beat Mayweather the night before I reckon he fairly deserves to win the award whether just because it is fresh in the minds of voters or not, he is fighting someone who is regarded as one of the best boxers in the World (certainly currently and perhaps an all time great).

Slightly disappointed to see that Victoria Pendleton hasn't made it onto the betting list but then again most people will be asking "who?" I'd imagine. Just won the Sportswoman of the year title from The Times and had yet another exception season in cycling. :)

I'd say Hatton is a very good bet, he's 2/1 to beat Mayweather and if he does he's a certainty to win the award I reckon.

I'd rather Hamilton didn't win it anyway, even though he had a great rookie year I'd rather wait till he actually won the championship.

Same here.

It doesn't sit right that he could win on the basis of a good first season but little to show for it

I don't want Lewis Hamilton to win. The fact he's released a book after 1 professional season has annoyed me no end. Plus i think Hatton and Calzaghe deserve it more.

I also think Lewis will win this, he's been a breath of fresh air in F1 for a lot of the public, although I think Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe and James Toseland deserve a shot as well.

has hamilton actually done anything of note, has he been a personality or just been interviewed about racing.

i dunno, when did sports personality of the year just go to whoever's remotely successful that year. where did the "personality" part of the award go to. what about someone whose done shedloads for charity, or, beat cancer, or, something that makes the couragous, brave, worthwhile human being?

Hatton for me. if i'm honest i'm not a huge follower of formula 1 but i'd have loved to see Hamilton wrap up the title, however looking back at it objectively there was some definite unsavouriness with regards the alonso thing etc. not saying it was his fault but i don't know if he was entirely blameless.

Hamilton's done loads of stuff with kids (not meant to sound dirty) throughout the season from what I've heard. Things like taking time out to teach them go-karting.

Not that it matters really, the world "personality" hasn't really applied to the award for as long as I've known.

Lewis hamilton had won it 6 races into the season. Game over. They were banging on about him being sports personality in june. Any of those other names i'd rather win because they are in an equal environment. What Paula radcliffe has achieved this year after having a baby far outweighs anything a man in the right car can achieve.

It should be either Calzaghe or Hatton.

But it i think it will be Hamilton going on last years result.

What the **** is Tim Henman doing in those odds! :p

It will be Hamilton. Probably rightly so really.

I can't believe that Henman is in there as well. Had he actually won anything I would say fair play...

He retired this year and has been Britains best tennis player for the better part of a decade, while he possibly hasn't fulfilled his potential for whatever reason he is/was a very good player and exponent of the game. :)
