From what I can see, there are different admin levels. I'm just waiting on the final details to come through now, but from what I saw of the site's demo page we should be able to have things locked down enough to make it safe.

I think we should have 2 admins for adding/removing accounts and configuring game specifics and then possibly another couple of accounts for doing the switches etc...

Agreed we need to have a method of electing what game and when, or at the very least a system of emailing everyone to say what's changed. If we're smart about this then it won't be a problem. :)

UT3 is installed on the server and ready to go, however the interface between UT3 and their Admin web control panel isn't ready just yet so we're waiting on that.

Warren - we're looking at between £30-40 for a server depending on who donates what. We've got £20 in the pot, it looks like ffallic and myself will make up the remainder today and any further donations to the cause will stay in the pot for next month's rental.

Agreed on the schedule, I think we're going to try and get a game setup for tonight if possible then we'll look at something more regular.

I'll chip in for a UT3 server - what paypal address do I send money to? How much do I need to send? I will be in the over 25 bracket but I am pretty handy. Used to play for PC Format Magazine CS Source team and am getting decent at UT3.
 
Would you consider a £3 payment this month for a slot? (I know I'm a cheap skate :)) I'm not after admin rights or anything like that, just a slot on the server. I thought the original premise was that it would only cost a couple of quid each if there was enough of us.
 
Sure whatever is fine mate, we'll even accept body parts and family members. :D



Not looking too promising on the server setup at the moment, I've put in requests to get two games added to our account (at 1pm) and not heard anything back yet. Have chased them up, will be getting pipe hitting medieval with blow torch and pliers shortly.

Edit - pliers applied, looks like we're getting our server sorted as we speak (type, meh).

Seems the majority of the cost has been paid by a few of us.

Even without payment, you will more than likely be able to get on. At this point I am unsure as to how many will be joining in.

Payment will simply gaurantee place if server is busy. We are not excluding those who do not pay.

The idea of chipping in for payment was only so that one person did not have to fork out for the whole thing.

Just wanted to be clear that this is not a pay to play scheme. We want it to be as open as possible to OCUK gamers.

I will update the OP to make this a little clearer
 
OK guys, doesn't look like tonight will be the first night. Randal24 contacted them 1pm and despite their advertising that servers can be set up in 10 minutes, they failed to set it up by the end of the work day - they close at 5...

So, we can either postpone til tomorrow night, or have our first match next week...

Though perhaps it is best to leave the specific arrangements until the server is actually up and running.

Sorry for any disappointment.
 
2nd that, really sorry all. Feel a bit silly now after selecting them for all the good press/recommendations and they let us down at the first hurdle. :(

Keep watching this post, any updates and I'll let you know. Again, sorry for the disappointment everyone.
 
My spec is in sig... would it be possible for me to host a dedicated server for a few hours for you guys if i download it?

If so, let me know and ill talk with you guys about it

Well ive set the server up... having never admined a server before i have no idea of commands but im going to google and find out... details below :)

Max players: 12 (kept this low to keep it from lagging a lot)
 
Heh if you server isn't working and you want to play TF2 there is still my clans server which is usually pretty empty (why im tryin to get it populated)

Guys, the server is now up and running. Can not test it myself as at work, so if anyone could connect and confirm for me, would be most appreciated.

Now it is just to decide when we will have out first match...
