A recently purchased Microsoft Points Card package (manufactured in Ireland) confirms the impending launch of Xbox Live Video Marketplace in Europe, apparently limited to the UK, Ireland, France, and Germany. The packaging also suggests that users will be able to rent "great movies" (in high-def), but does not mention the possible availability of television content.

Microsoft has loosely targeted a year-end release for Video Marketplace in parts of Europe (and Canada), and with this new evidence, we should expect Tuesday's Dashboard Update to include the service in all relevant territories.

Seems that we will be at least getting something by the end of the year, will be intresting

ah, i see, not so bad, although capping will effect download speeds and usage allowance, and wouldn't want to leave my xbox on 12 hours downloading a movie because of this and not be able to play a online game whilst its downloading either isn't much cop

Get an un-capped ISP then? 360 can download in low power mode when you are not playing, but I guess it's not for you :)

I haven't minded big downloads. Just leave it in low power mode and you can't tell it's on. I doubt I'll use this much though as I get my rentals from Lovefilm and as with Sky Movies I'm not going to spend £4 or so a pop, though the fact they'll be in HD is appealing...

I was originally predicting a November 2007 release for the European VM. This is good news though because I was planning to not renew my XBL subs come Dec 14th. I hardly play over live anymore (haven't the time) and there's sod all 'Entertainment vids' that are available for free like it used to be.

However since I have two HD-DVD players, HD movies are a bit out of the question. I would be interested in American TV serials though.

yes i know all that, lol, but name a decent ISP that isn't capped or has some sort of FUP these days. Its times like this that ISP need to get their finger out of their butts and actually give us users what we want which is HD Digital media distributed across the internet without worrying about restrictions and such otherwise these sort of things will never take off or be heavily restricted.

Most FUP are fine if you do your downloading after peak hours, so leaving the 360 on low power mode downloading over night will probably not bother them, ring them up and ask :)

BE Unlimited :) I'm on 18-19mb download, and 1.3mb upload speeds.

What about excessive network usage?
If it’s felt that any Be member’s Internet activities are so excessive that other members are detrimentally affected, Be may give the member generating the excessive web traffic a written warning (by email or otherwise). In extreme circumstances, should the levels of activity not immediately decrease after the warning, Be may terminate that member’s services.

After knowing people who have used Be for a couple of years and having it myself, they have not had to do this. Obviously it is not written in stone, but they manage their backend bandwidth very well. I use an excessive amount sometimes, my mate certainly exceeds 75gb a month with ease.

I've been on it since the start of this year, and put it this way - I am a heavy user. They text you if theres repairs to be carried out at your exchange and even text & email you when your next bill is due. Great ISP and the best I've used since Pipex.

That's a very limited ISP though, pretty much London only.

Try Pipex, when I signed up last year they didn't have a fair usage policy and mines unlimited - £22p/m

Do Pipex even exist anymore? I thought Tiscali bought them.

Anyway they don't do unlimited so you're mistaken. You're bound by a FUP in any case.

I'd change from Virgin broadband in a heartbeat now, the capping is annoying. I'd have to get a BT line installed though so that's out of the question really.
