GeForce 9 series, due for February 08

Well it does depend on the context. Swapping a 8800GTX for a 8800GT is hardly a downgrade.
True. I suppose if someone was saying downgrade to an 8600GT until February that would be dumb, especially since this isn't even official word they're coming out then. Personally I just wanted to reclaim £100 from my GTX and put it toward my D9E fund. That soon went on RAM though. :p

True, but its not really worthwhile unless you find someone willing to pay enough for the 8800gtx to make it worthwhile.
I'd love to know someone desperate enough for a GTX they would pay enough to mean I didn't make a huge loss on it since getting it :p

Can't wait for the new cards though, will likely get one :)

If the cards have native 64bit floating point capacity, and a total FP performance of over 1Tflop, I will be a happy bunny :)

Roll on release, if it's accurate it's timed very nicely so I can do my E6600 -> Penryn & 8800GTX ->9800GTX upgrade all in one go :)

Fingers crossed for a water cooled version from BFG so i don't have to faf with water blocks...

Ahh good stuff the plan has fell into place, sitting tight with my GTX for one of these.

I'm throwing a pinch of salt at this though :p

Nope. Just the you should be able to play Crysis on max setting @ 1600 x 1200 at a playable frame rate. :)
Perhaps, but it will still have aliasing all over the place :(

Will it just be the same sort of card like the 8800GT but with more shaders, higher clockspeeds and a dual-slot cooler?

Hopefully will be released before my EVGA step-up program cut off date (8800GT ordered Sunday, dispatched today).

Don't you only get the step up program in the uk if you got the card from one of their listed system sellers? sure there's a post on here quoting that small print somewhere.
Can i just shock you and say i wouldn't be at all surprised if even the 9800 will not be maxing crysis out at anything over 60 fps

Interesting to see if there is on stock available on the release date (when that’s confirmed by Nv)…the GT availability has been a joke…

Ngh!

Makes 8800 GTS G92's now kinda pointless really if this is true, don't really wanna spend £200 ish in on a card for 3 months which would then be worth £100. Bloody Nvidia!

I'll be more than happy with my GT for 12-15 months until the refresh of the 9800 comes out at a lower price :)
