Bladerunner - The Final Cut - Pre Orders

^ You're not bitter at all are you :)

I haven't seen the whole film either, I seen the odd bit here and there

My 5 disk tin came this morning, I now need to decide which order to watch them in, and how much DIY and Xmas shopping they can interfere with :)

I saw it- final cut- in the cinema last week. Saw the director's cut about 3 months ago... To be honest, I couldn't tell you what was different between the two. Perhaps if I watched them back to back I would, but I couldn't see much to get excited about in the re-re-re-remix. But it does look like a pretty cool DVD release.

longer more brutal tyrell murder, tidied up the first retirement kill because you could tell it wasn't her running through the glass, an unnecessary extra elevator scene after the murder.

but you're right, there isn't much of a difference AT ALL

but it was definitely nice to catch it in the cinema

you lot have been taken for fools by clever flashy marketing which has enticed you into believing your getting something you have not already seen before. how many times do they have to re hash the same film and sell it to you as a a new enthralling piece of art.

some of your comments make me laugh.

lol

listen, i love the film but all this hysteria over something which isn't new.

ooh a cool new directors special narrative over a scene we never thought was good enough to put in the in the original cut.

all new special never seen before special important new camera angles that gives you more insight into the life of someone we originally cut out.

5 extra notes in the main theme tune , never heard before , and neither has vangelis.

extra extra read all about it backdrops that will make you forget who you are and why its important to swallow a mouth full of popcorn.

merry christmas :(

I'm sorry but I resent being called a fool.
I am a massive fan of the film and have been since I saw it for the first time.
Over the years I have watched all of the versions of the film - I know my favourite version and I know why I don't like other versions.

I won the film on DVD from a long time ago - a terrible version of the Directors Cut which although certainly isn't a pirate version certainly doesn't look great.
I knew that there was to be a cleaned up version a year or so ago, however as I also knew that the Final Cut was due for release this year I decided not to purchase that.

I knew exactly what I was getting for my £17.99 - I was getting the opportunity to own all versions of the film including the definitive version.
This to me is an absolute bargain - so little for so much as I can watch whichever version of the film I want to.
My 5 disc version should arrive tomorrow morning and I cannot wait to settle down and watch it.

If I had been sold this package under some promise of the final cut being radically different then maybe I would have been upset.
However I went into this purchase with my eyes open, I knew exactly what I was going to get - I'm certainly no fool.

The single most influential science fiction movie of all time.
Ok we get that you like it... but thats a little far fetched. I'd say Starwars was more influential

pedantic I know, but Lucas doesn't class starwars as sci-fi - he calls it a 'space opera' or something like that..

Is there a 5 disc BluRay version coming out? The only versions I've seen are region 1 which means they won't play on my PS3 will they?

Thsi is going to be another xmas where everyone buys it for everyone else in my family, like when Jean-Michel Jarre's Aero came out. I know me and at least 2 other people in the family will want this. So we will prolly all get it!

hi,
is this available yet?
had it on pre order (get it before street date!) and it looks like some have it already.

Very available. Got the 5 disk DVD set and the HD-DVD briefcase is on it's way. :D The tin rocks.

Currently watching the documentary about the making of the set and the restoration. Very interesting.

Can't believe they scanned the film negative in at 4k resolution and the SFX components at 8k resolution. Thats bonkers!

Yeah I'd like to know about the bluray version too as I've got a ps3 and no HDDVD. Only UK release I can find is the 2 disc final cut.. Will the Region 1 5 disc version be Region Locked?

Cheers guys

Just ordered the 5 disk version, so should i watch all of them, if i do in what order?

If you've never seen Bladerunner before it might be worth watching the original theatrical version first.
That way you can see it for the first time the same way everyone else did.
The director's cut & final cut are similar - so if you've got the patience directors then final will mean you've watched all 3 "main" versions of the film in the order they were released.

I enjoyed the original release, however I feel that the director's cut was a better version of the story.
Final cut just cleans things up that little bit further.

Play.com do the UK 5 disc version.
It is however now £24.99 whereas it was £17.99 when I pre-ordered it and on release day.
The Region 2 5 disc version contains all the same content as the Region 1 - however you get more "toys" in the Region 1 box.
Model of a flyer and a paper unicorn, that kind of thing.
I was just interested in the content of the discs so I didn't bother trying to get hold of the Region 1 box.

It almost certainly will be region locked - no reason for it not to be.
