Is this the latest word to use? All of a sudden EVERYONE is using it whereas before barely a handful knew what it actually meant...or am i going insane?

Never heard of it before, so wouldn't know what it means :(
Procrastinate:

  • postpone or 'put-off' doing what one should be doing.
  • postpone or delay needlessly.
  • Procrastination is the deferment or avoidance of an action or task to a later time and is often linked to perfectionism.

I've noticed a few people using it but amusingly most have no idea what it actually means. I think it's the latest "I want to be seen to be clever" word for some reason.

I thought everyone had been using it for years?

Come to think I've not actually heard it used at all recently, but I used to hear it all the time.

The only time I really head it before recently was in the Blink 182 song "Man overboard" Always known what it meant but dunno where I first heard it.

"Man on a mission
Can't say I miss him around
Insider information
Hand in your resignation

Loss of a good friend
Best of intentions I found
Tight lipped procrastination
Yeah later, see you around"

Hmm, yeah, sorry i didn't read the post properly. That is not a new word, one I use when its appropriate. I think it depends on your range of your vocabulary. Simply watching soaps like "Grollyoaks" and Eastenders will not improve your knowledge of words. Reading lots of books helps.

One of my father's phrases when I was younger was procrastination is the thief of time so I know what it means and also use it.

I prefer Procrasturbation.

The act of staving off more weighty tasks by ... ahem :p

I do agree with that, but to my mind a lot more people procrastinate simply due to lack of confidence. They fear failing at something and therefore shut it out and keep saying what amounts to "I'll do it tommorrow".
