Hi,

How do I select a complete backup to a network share on Vista, I'd like to put the UNC path of my server?

does it let you restore to a mapped network drive?

net use x: \\server\sharename

(i'm sure you know this already)

The only options I have are shown above, it doesn't see mapped networked drives, you have to use UNC path but how do I do that?

Yes, but how to do I enter it

are you sure it supports network backups then? because it's imaging the whole drive, i guess the method to restore it would need some network connectivity as well? i'm not sure you'll get this with standalone vista (you do get this functionality with windows home server though)

I'm now not sure, can anybody with Vista Ultimate confirm if they can do a complete backup to a network share?

I have a maxtor NAS drive and I cannot backup to it with Vista 64 Ultimate

it does not show upin the drop down list so no go

evan if it did you would not be able to see it with the DVD to restore the PC as the network is not up at that time

the more i think about, the more i'm sure we're completely missing the point. backing up files over a functioning network is a trivial task. but just how are you going to restore that image?
