Why is there so much fuss about boobs on TV?

If you watch TV you will See lots of killing and blowing up people in movies and on the News.

Even on the 6 or 7 o'clock news they will show you the after math of a Suicide bomber with blood splatted down the street with injured or dead people in the Background.

But when it comes to Boobs just 1 Slight slip of a Nipple or even slightly See through Lingerie before 9 at night then its got a big black or Blurry Censored mark right across it!:(

So why are we allowed to see see Killing and blood anytime of the day but boobs just shouldn't be shown at all even though we all have nipples!

Couldn't agree more. If you want to see that kind of thing you can always put MTV Dance on, no nakedness but as close as you can get to it!

Our censorship laws are completely daft, I've yet to work out why it's ok to watch people getting killed yet not ok to watch people making more people when the exact opposite is legal in the physical world.

Thats not strictly true. "How to look good naked" on channel 4 has literally hundreds of topless women on it each week. Its on at 8pm.
Some are in their underwear, but most have their lady bumps out and just have knickers on. Theyre usually running round somewhere random like a football stadium too!

Did you know that way back in the past before western culture etc that nudity and sex etc were not taboo ? - I watched a docu on how unearthed ruins of an ancient city (I think it was Pompei?) where they found in tact wall paintings showing people in sexual positions etc - these paintings were in rooms that would have been living rooms in peoples houses and also found artefacts that relate to these subjects.

These things are all now hidden away in the back of a museum away from public eyes because it's considered "obscene".

I know we're moving towards a lesser taboo culture now (gay/innuendo on daytime tv etc etc) but a bit of boob is nothing, in fat you walk outside and there's more boob visible on the streets and on billboards than on TV but there's always some old TV Jockey that writes in to complain about the slightest slip.

Not my fault if you dont understand some forms of slang, look it up google is your friend

BAI THOUGH :o

I've got my suspicions that Google Image Search will not be your friend here, especially if SafeSearch is off.

As for the original question, I'd guess it is primarily down to old fashioned attitudes about what should and should not be shown on TV or talked about.

Best. Program. Ever! :D

Boobs everywhere and unlike other forum users I am not that fussy.

think yourself lucky Zip in the US they don't show them at all on 'normal' TV. Not even after 9pm! They even blur out bums!

We watched Austin Powers in NY a few weeks ago - at 11pm he was saying 'Do I make you RANDY baby' (because horny isn't allowed apparently). And there are no boobs on standard TV ever - unless Janet Jackson is around, obviously ;)

Just one more thing we can thank religion for. :p
What on earth does religion have to do with it?

Unless of course you think religious people have the monopoly on censorship, which of course would be very stupid.
