Crysis loses out at awards

Yeah, i thought so too.

Although it isn't better than those games, in those categories, I've enjoyed it more than COD4.

I'm surprised that Bioshock beat Mario Galaxy to best game though. Only because I know how much the critics have raved about Mario galaxy.

Haven't heard of Mario Galaxy before but Bioshock is certainly amazing.

DiRT getting driving game of the year... What? Who votes for these awards?
I mean, I don't hate the game and it's alright for a quick blast every now and then, but Driving GoTY is going a bit far. What about Forza2/PGR4?

Forza 2 should have won.

Why?

You can pretty much buy your way through the game!

PGR4 does actually require you to be good at driving/the game and have found it very tense at times and extremely realistic, Forza 2 was just boring.

Orange Box won best pc game, deservidly so imo.
I thought Portal was superb.

COD4 didnt do it for me one bit, too linear and too many respawning enemys. Only level worth playing was the sniper level.

Crysis was great, i imagine when we see next gen video cards the game will really open up and its brilliance will be seen by everyone.

Its strange, for the first time in a while i am actually fairly happy with the games the game industry is providing for us, all in all a good year in terms of games.

You gotta remember that most game awards = mainstream console stuff win.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement. After all Crysis won best graphics and Portal was chosen as the breakthrough technology winner.

Are there really any games that are much better than Bioshock and COD4 that are pc only anyway?

To me Bioshock was the only game I thought deserved GOTY. The key qualifications for GOTY is that it must have excelled in all areas: graphics, plot, characters, art, longevity etc. And Bioshock was the only one to do that.
