Hey, I'm a new member of this forum. Found out about it ages ago - been told it's the best forum for anything to do with PCs. But only just joined recently.

I'm a member of a few forums where there's an introduction section, so people can introduce themselves, and others can get their post count up merely by saying "Welcome" or something along these lines.

Seeing as I couldn't find such a section, I thought I'd post here lol, but I'm not going to introduce myself :D

Instead...I'm going to ask you for some help - like all the newbies do..(Please don't shout lol)

I really want to build my own PC, and I've got all the tools needed, been there, read 2 books, and bought a t-shirt - and think I know it all:D What I'm struggling with though is what components to buy. I'd want to build a really simple PC with like a Pentium -1 processor or something like that, just to get a feel of things, and then maybe move onto bigger things.. I mean I wouldn't wanna hold a £5000 Graphics card in my hand and eff it up somehow lol. So if I could ask you to post me a list of all the componets I would need etc..I would be soooo, sooo grateful :)

P.S. I could do it myself, but I can't be bothered (joke:() From what I've read different boards have different sockets and work with different processors etc, and that's why I'm asking you :)

Having read the FAQ and the Rules, I haven't found anywhere which says this ^ is against the rules. If however it is..please don't ban me lol - I'm sorry in advance.

Geez, quite a lengthy thread - sorry:(

EDIT: Love my user title - Thug :D

First off, welcome. Second, claimed.

Third, wrong forum. :p

EDIT: Building a PC can be daunting, but not difficult.

If you want a decent PC, make a thread in the Hardware forum and tell people what you will be using the PC for and what your budget is [and also whether you need keyboard/mouse/monitor]. There will be plenty of people to help you.

Generally though you need:

CPU
Motherboard
RAM
GPU
PSU
Case

it will be moved to the right forum :) By what magic is this feat accomplished??

BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!!!

p.s. welcome :D

The right forum is General Hardware.

This forum, General Discussion, if for spamming.

As said, the thread will be moved by magic forum pixies

Firstly welcome and the claimed means that you are now the property of SiriusB. :)
As previously mentioned post in the hardware section just don't forget to include a budget. :)

Have fun with the build theres nothing quite like bricking it just before you switch it on for the first time. :)

Aye, ok thanks.... Shall I wait for this thread to be moved to that forum, or start a new one ?

Welcome dude, if i was you i wouldnt mention anything like P1 in the comps section, they will just ignore you, pr atleast i will, how can you work with something that crap. It isnt hard to build a pc, most things fit in certai ports, main components are needed, make sure you put yur pillars under the mainboard otherwise youll fry it.

Small things which you will pick up here.

Enjoy your stay.

James.

Supoib spattering of smilies. :D

i came here when i built my first PC

basically i had a look at the ocuk store and then picked *** stuff i liked the look of. i then asked on the hardware forum if it all worked together or if i was missing something important. people on here are very helpful. you can also ring the shop and ask them. they are also very helpful.

building a PC sounds like a difficult thing to do, but its really not hard.

welcome and enjoy :)

Dude here's a thought. Have you tried getting an old machine, taking it apart and then put it back together? That way if you break it, its an old machine and doesn't really matter.

Hehe, good or bad thing ?

Thanks for all the replies. I know building PCs isn't THAT hard to do. But getting all the components right is a bit tricky, and for my first PC I'm on a really, really tight budget. Basically, the less I'll spend on my first PC, the more I'll have on the second one...Hence the mention of P1 lol

You can get P4 pretty cheaply though, so that shouldn't be a problem :)

Secondly, I know this is a OcUK forum...But is tehre anyway, you could find me the components on [Competitor], which are sold by [Competitor], and not third parties. Reason I'm asking, is because I've got spare [Competitor], Vouchers, which I need to get rid of..
