Greatest Military Hardware

There is no ucav though, and it would take decades of development to get AI to a point to be anywhere capable of taking on a skilled pilot. Or if their remote controlled, then they would always have lag time, and could never perform at their peak and be very suceptable to jamming.

Then again, if we ever develop an EMP missile things will get very interesting.

Eh-Errrrr. There is a UCAV that has already changed the face of the modern battlefield. It is the reason why in modern conflict, all the other aircraft have managed to gain air superiority with virtually no resistance.

Why risk people when you can chuck a RC bomb on them from a control room, half a world away.

Never heard about these things having 'lag' ;)

That will turn nothing like a training aircraft, let alone a F22, it has no weapons other than its self either. Pretty lame combat aircraft TBH. Infact its a missle.

Why would they have lag?, they fly pre-programmed routes using GPS and terrain mapping radar.

So. As a weapon, its changed the face of the modern battlefield.

These are the new 'front line'. They go in and destroy the enemys defences before the human pilots put themselves in the firing line.

How can you say that? its accuracy is pure fail alone.

Your standard US or UK standard issue assault rifle fired on single shot will make one man keep his head down.

Fire an AK on full auto the whole army keeps their heads down.

What was said previously was true, it is the single most reliable assault rifle the world has ever seen........... and when you've been in the military like me you appreciate its simpleness, effectiveness and sheer stopping power.

The British Forces standard issue the L85A1 (previously known as the SA80) strips down into over 20 parts for maintenance, the AK splits into 3!!! now you imagine your sitting giving your weapon a good old clean :o and you get attacked....... over 20 parts to put back together as opposed to 3..... I know which I'd rather have!!!

errr yes but its not an unmanned fighter plane is it, its just a new artillery gun in essence, and will actually be out dated when a 32 J rail gun is invented, as that will deliver shells with the same accuracy in a shorter time with a higher effective pay load.

Also it wouldn't really be able to turn in a dog fight much.

1 F-22 can take out half a dozen F-16 before they could see who's shooting at them. 10 F-22 can take out 60 of those X-47, any swarm will now be a few odd planes :p

No. See, the F22 wont even be able to detect the UAVs, the UAVs will be in such high number that they will be impossible to remove a fraction of them, the UAVs can pull maneuveres that just aren't possible for the human body to take, and can purposely employ kamaze methods.

It has to be the machine gun, it totally changed the principles of warefare. When first invented the British considered them so barbaric they would only deploy them against tribes like the Zulus and not developed nations.

All the debate about which plane is best has got a bit out of hand and geeky the only way you'll know is to put one against the other and see which wins, neither is combat proven and I think the sheer cost of purchase and maintenance and supporting systems should remove them from the argument. If it has to be a plane I'd go for the Harrier as the only aircraft of it's type for so long it proves how difficult the technology is to master and what an incredible job the developers did, plus it's combat record isn't bad at all!

UAV's are generally slender lightweight spyplanes built to stay in the air as long as possible, totally different from a UCAV

UAVs are any flying vehicle that is not controlled by a human.
They don't have to be spy planes, they don't have to be slender and they can be designed for dog fighting if need be.

It just so happens their biggest use so far is survellience
