Award ceremonies? Pah, what do they know? It's always some worthy period piece that waltzes off with best film, when it's the blockbusters that peole actually pay to see.
So, I ask you, the cinema goer, which cinematic release blew your mind in the year of the three-quel?

If you need a reminder the complete list is here

A short explanation to go with your choice wouldn't go amiss.

American gangster. An entertaining film which managed to balance two opposite stories well and also managed to do the seemingly impossible in films these days - remain interesting the whole way through!

Stardust - Appealed to almost every aspect I could want, and I left the cinema with a grin on my face.

The Fountain, closely followed by The Bourne Ultimatum. In all fairness though, I haven't seen 3/4 of the films listed there, maybe even more.

God, there's been some turgid nonsense made this year!

I'd probably say Last King of Scotland. I've not seen it, therefore it is the only film not to disappoint me.

It disappointed me haha :p but that's probably because it was hyped so much...still a good movie.

There's loads I haven't seen from this year's releases, but of those I've seen, I'd put The Bourne Ultimatum just ahead of Hot Fuzz. I'd say it was everything the new Bond film wanted to be in a spy movie but without the hype.

I really ought to seek out some of the less mainstream films though. I often only find them once they appear on Sky.

Welcome To Dongmakgol came out in 2007?

I thought it was 2005. Well, that anyway, was by the far the best on the list.

Babel second, American Gangster third.

The Bourne Ultimatum by a long long long way. I've seen other films this year that I've really enjoyed. But The Bourne Ultimatum is just unbelievable. It has a great plot, great acting, AWESOME action and it was just perfect in every way. It excelled how good I thought a film could be.

Has to be either Transformers or 300 for me.

I might be forgetting a lot of other films that I've seen this year though.
