Just completed Deus Ex again

its been a log time since i played this, but i remember it well. my favorite weapons were the swords (dragon sword?), coupled with speed aug and melee attack damage you cant lose :D lol. my mate used to annoy me when he talked about deus ex. because he used to pronounce it "due sex" god damn it still annoys me >_>
 
I haven't played Deus Ex years! Didn't get very far but my god, what a fantastic game.

Hmmm, I'm off over Christmas... reckon I should spend it all playing this? ;)
 
Awesome game.

I loved targetting aug + ballistic protection + regeneration just run around head shotting everything with a stealth pistol and taking hardly any damage. :o
 
Very, very close to being the best PC game ever. Loved it, and I'll be playing through it again prior to getting DE3 ;).

DE2 was a real let down, lets hope they get it right this time.
 
Was DE2 a let down because of the perfomance or the game in general?

I played DE2 for around 10 minutes before getting sick of the way it performed. WOndering if it needs a second chance.

Performance, story wasn't as polished as DE, and it looked, felt and played like a poor, lousy console port.

Performance sucked, and needed some serious tweaking to resurrect out of x-box optimised doldrums. Various tweak utilities were swiftly released which help dramatically. A high texture pack was swiftly released for it too to allow it to look significantly better.

DE2 was actually a pretty reasonable game in its own right once you got into it. The problem was it was a sequel, and it didn't stand up to the high standards the first game held. Many DE die-hards started it and gave up because of that instead of giving it a fair shot.

U got me thinking about it now! lol

I remember playing this game got into it, and started to get hard for me, and im not sure what happened, I think I formatted my PC, and wanted to start it from the beginning all over again, but I never got around to it!
Maybe I should.....

Maybe I should? theres no two ways about it, DO IT!. i remember thinking that the storyline was better than any film and that it maybe should have been turned into a film, but that would have probably been messed up :/ its a shear masterpiece of a game that had so much effort put into it that puts todays games to shame.

I did Tong's when I did it recently :)

My usual thing:
Grenades, the dragon sword thing, Crossbow and submachine gun with exploding rounds (for more intense combat + vs robots and mj12 soldiers with biomods).

ballistic protection
combat strength
cloak (robots usually end up harder than men, but having a spy drone sorts this out)
power recirc
targeting
spy drone
regeneration
Environmental (Aqualung is pretty similar to swimming, but there is no equivalent for environmental iirc).
speed enhancement (Turn on then crouchand you get similar speeds to running with silent run).
 
I've done all the endings several times. I usually end up being a master with swords, and using the Dragon's Tooth to one shot people in the head. Sneaking and invisibility cloak is so much fun.

Think my favourite though is stealing Sergeant Kaplin's chocolate bar; "Hey, that's my lunch!" and then throwing a plant at him. "Thats not funny JC."
 
^Actually although I'm a bit of a Glide fanboi (and have used that wrapper in the past), the best option for Deus Ex (and any Unreal-engined games) nowadays is to use updated dlls. You can get great ones here, in DX8 or OGL flavours: http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/ . Be sure to check out the Beta page, as a new OGL renderer for Deus Ex was released a couple of months back.
 
i really love this game and yes its the best game I ever played!

I love the music too! The hong kong music is the best ambient music I heard in ages!! I even have the mp3 :p
