Not without it's flaws, but I love the MiG-25. Sure, the SR71 will outrun it, but that's a recon bird, not an interceptor. Not many combat aircraft pushing well in excess of Mach2.5 have gone into production, and this baby is around 40 years old now.

Resistant to jamming (because of the wide band the radar sets use), and the newer 48N6DM missile has an extended range (460km). Apparently the Chinese are planning to create a wall of SA-20s to cover Taiwanese airspace.
The SA-20, as you probably know, is the SA-10 upgrade and is capable of engaging ballistic missiles to. The system can control multiple warheads at once and one single command post can control a dozen erector launchers at once. Hehe. I've only ever encountered them in simulators, or on the ground
One was tracked going across Israel at Mach 3.2
Generally they were pegged to 2.8 though as much above that trashed the engines and airframe. Engines were essentially scrap and the airframe went banana like.
Still, for something that could be repaired with a hammer, pop riviter and a bean tin, it's bloody impressive.
Even more scary is it's radar. 600kilowatt in power, will burn through most jamming. Can't be used on the ground as it will microwave anything living in in the vicinity. They found lots of cooked rabbits alongside the runways.
Fantastic aircraft. Modern Russian widdles over anything from any other country. The Su35 and 37 are massivly impressive. Takes the Mig 27 and Su27 abilities to a entirely new level.

It even picked up the "undetectable" stealth bomber when the yanks did a test flight over the uk only for the british to say "oh yes we know you did we have the logs"

But according to my past military experiences...(namely, Crysis) - one shot at that painfully obvious fuel canister on the front would take it out of commision.

Javelin missile launcher - had a go on the simulator for one of these, fire and run whilst the challenger 2 (stolen of course seeing as only allies have them (correct if wrong)) explodes.

The good old mortar always over looked, all the big stuff is great till you realy need it. At such times its never there, mortars are the nasty little buggers you can depend on.
