Radeon™ HD 3890

Its around the same length as the gtx, im looking at my ultra right now on my maximus board and it seems to overlap the mobo by around the same amount. Not massive by any means. :)

3870 x 2 is simply crossfire on a stick. (ie two seperate gpu dies on one pcb)

RIP :(

It would appear the 3890 is SHORTER than an 8800 Ultra

If these are around £240 I might get one.
Seems ATI have more interesting cards around at the moment. I would really like to test even the HD3850 and HD3870.

For the same price as a current 8800GTS-512MB you could have CROSSFIRE HD3850's which doesn't seem such a bad choice for those who like to play! (and most INTEL users have a nice CROSSFIRE ready mobo).

I still haven't decided which GPU I will have installed for xmas, I'm intending to play through the Half-Life series at 1920x1200 so looks like I could get away with even a £100 ish HD 3850.

[edit] anyway back on topic I suppose there is a chance that one of the new HD 3890's may actually use less power than the older HD2900XT due to the newer low powered cores! :D

It should do, AMD reckon Crossfire 3870s need a 550w psu, I would guess that a single card with two chips would need less power (though I would aim for at least the Crossfire spec)

If you've got decent cooling and are willing to crank up the voltage a bit the 3850s can really pay off.

However, I would imagine a single 8800GTS 512mb would be a better investment.

Seems really interesting :)
Depends on the price they are going to charge for these. Thank god i didn't buy a new video card. Seems like my old 1800xl will have to last me a couple months more till these babies are out :D

I rekon the fans on that thing will have more suction than a dyson cyclone thing.
I hope not, those cores are meant to run a lot cooler than the previous ones used on the HD2900XT.

Also I'm sure AMD/ATI got a lot of negative feedback about the HD2900XT so hopefully they will learn from that mistake and get nice quiet coolers designed.

The new 8800GTS 512MB Cooler is ace, hope the new Radeon has something similar.

It looks almost the same as a 2900XT's cooler just abit weird shape.

I am looking forward to this card though and if they can get it released for under £250 I'll deffenitly be flogging my 8800GT for it!

Blimey ATi are flooding these cards out. Interesting tactic ;).

I'm keeping my eye on one of these if they manage to price it right it might be worth a look in but it would take me a hell of a lot to budge me from my GTX.

Now looking at that picture those do indeed look just like the coolers featured on the HD2900XT, real big mamas and noisy as hell too! I mean Tom|Nbk owned a HD2900XT for a few months and look what the fan noise did to him! :D

I was thinking that since these new cores use a lot less juice and generate less heat that the cooling would be quieter, silly me of course there will be two cores so that brings the TDP backup to HD2900XT levels?

AMD are gonna do it again, they are gonna release these new HD3890's with monster loud coolers!

I owned a 2900XT too. It was &^%&%%$%

Will, please. Give it a rest. If you think they are that crap, stick a comment in your signature, so you can mouth off in every single post without actually saying anything about it ;)

Would be nice to see them come out and support the crossfire stuff better, and it makes sense that they said recently how they will be supporting crossfire x better than before. This is I assume because they have to, as looking like they won't be releasing anything else anytime soon, so forced to support the only thing that might keep performance levels up compared to Nvidia.
