Am i overlooking something ?

Why would anyone do this? He has claimed that hes spent over 12k on the "conversion" but why doesn't he just wait a couple more years and even if his quote was around £1500, he'd be able to own and drive a real one? and still have money over to run the thing for a good few years.

A few peoples initial thoughts would be "wow an m3" quickly followed by "er..why does it sound like a minibus?"

Most worryingly is the fact this guy must be on reasonable money to have bought it in the first place, and you'd expect someone with that much spare salary to spend on such a car to have more sense?

So....am i overlooking something?

IT MAYBE A DIESEL BUT TRUST ME THE RAW FROM THE QUAD EXHUST SYSTEM WHICH IS FROM THE MANIFOLD TO THE TAILPIPES MAKES IT SOUND LIKE A V8!

Wasn't the autotrader Ad for this car posted last week? I love the "The car has covered 98000 all motorway miles" he should have added driven slowly so as not to embarass myself when getting over taken by Focii

£20k to get the above on my drive.... It certainly looks the part from the outside!

Trouble is, £20k buys this.....

Which sounds like a real V8! :D Surely a no brainer?

FWIW though, the e60 M5's V10 sounds like a diesel at tickover, so that fake diesel one may well fool plenty! :p

I don't see the issue, other then the M5 badge, remove that, maybe replace with just an M badge, and it's a nice looking conversion.. if it's all original, and it's not much more then a standard car, then I'd consider it..

However, I'd never put the M5 badges on, that's just one vain step too far, I'd get some M badges with possible the D for diesel..

I'm with Demon, rip the badges off & it looks sound to me. I'd have to hear it though & see the rear end irl to truly decide though.
