Top Gear Returns Sunday 7th October

Top Gear has got a big night in this weekend on the Beeb :)

Tired of TV Christmas specials so sugary they threaten to give you diabetes?

Fear not, because the controller of BBC Two has somewhat bravely allowed Jeremy, Richard and James to pick and present a whole evening of Top Gear-flavoured telly.

We can guarantee there won't be a snub-nosed carol-singing urchin in sight and Gloria Hunniford has been barred from the building.

Instead you'll be treated to a festive smorgasbord, including James May's nostalgic look at the toys of the past, Richard Hammond's meeting with the world's greatest ever daredevil stuntman and Clarkson's surprisingly dignified appearance on Have I got News For You, not to mention the last in the current series of Top Gear.

It all kicks off at 7pm on Sunday 23 December on BBC Two, just after The Great Escape. We think Steve McQueen would have approved.

7pm James May: My Sister's Top Toys

8pm Top Gear

9pm Richard Hammond Meets Evel Knievel

10pm Have I Got News For You (hosted by Jeremy Clarkson)

10.30pm Match Of The Day 2 (not hosted by Jeremy Clarkson)

11.30pm Viva Knievel!

Sunday 23 December, BBC Two

So not really a Top Gear "big night in" at all. Just the TG presenters doing other stuff.

The only thing that looks worth watching there is Top Gear and HIGNFY.

I just heard on the rumour mill that this coming Sunday's episode will have a feature where the Stig drives a Lotus 72 Formula 1 car

:o:eek::o:D:D

The Evel Knieval stuff should be worth watching, ages ago when it was Knieval night on BBC2 there were some quality programs. Jumping buses and stuff on motorbikes = quality. :D

The 24 hour endurance race episode is repeated tonight at 19:00 incase anyone missed it or wants to see it again. :)

NNnnnnnooooo!!!
Dear God, I don't think I'll ever see this episode, no net access back at my flat and didn't know it was repeated yesterday. :( (For some reason I thought it would have been on last Wednesday)

Yeah, but then you're forced to endure the sign language presenter gurning and taking up half the bloody screen.

I wish this was an option that could be either turned on or off. Its quite annoying how much of the screen they turn over to sign language and you cant do anything about it.

Also what happend to subtitles? they used to be just fine for this sorta thing...

You do know you can just click on the program and play it now without downloading it and there no sign language bodys to be seen.

Preview for the last show of the series tonight (the polar special is repeated next week):-

In the last show of the series, Jeremy, James and Richard take the new BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG and Audi RS4 to Spain. In a thorough test of performance, they find out which one has the best handling and which one makes you look like a hair gelled weasel. James tests the brand new Jaguar XF. Dr Who star David Tennant is the 'star in a reasonably priced car'. Plus, the boys make the ultimate Christmas present by turning a G-Wiz into a high performance radio controlled car. And, with it being the last show of 2007, it wouldn't be complete without the massively influential Top Gear Awards.

Top Gear: Polar Challenge (Repeat)
Sunday 30 December
8:00pm - 9:00pm
BBC2 West

In Top Gear's most ambitious challenge yet, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond attempt to race from Northern Canada to the North Pole: a 450 mile journey. The terrain in between is some of the toughest on earth, composed of mountains and jagged sea ice. Temperatures can drop to -65 degrees Celcius, and polar bears are an added threat. While Jeremy and James drive a specially adapted pick up truck, Richard travels on a sled pulled by a team of ten huskies.
