Arsene Wenger has reccommended that capello call almunia up for his first game in charge next year.

Almunia will be eligable to play for england next year under residency.

What are peoples opinions?

Along with robert green he's one of the best performing keepers in the country at the moment.

Personally id rather it went to robert green but IF almunia was called up id be happy as he's proving himself at the moment

I'll reserve judgement on Almunia until I see how he recovers from a serious error which costs Arsenal points.

he may not be born in england but under the football rules hes eligable to play for england because of how many years he has lived in this country

Next year he will be granted british citizenship

Yes, I'd be more than happy to see him play for England. The Spaniards are nice people.

Had it of been a French keeper, it would have been an instant non.

He's been excellent, why not.
I think once Ben Foster is fit there can be only one choice for England keeper, but I'd definitely like Almunia to be available. I always want the best players at the time to play and he fits into that catagory.

Paul Robinson has been back on form lately for the first time in several years. Once he's proved himself again at Spurs everyone will forget about this silly Almunia thing.

Robinson has never convinced me as a decent shot stopper.

I wouldn't mind Almunia, or Cudicini playing for us. Nothing wrong with it. I'd rather Robert Green and Ben Foster of course.

lol

It's a sad predicament to be in where we start thinking about bringing in foreign players to play for an english team

We can't even get a decent english manger in!
