I am Legend

6/10 at best. Really disappointed after seeing the trailer a week before the film. At only 91 minutes long it could have done with another 30 minutes filling in the blanks. Especially with the initial 'outbreak'. There was plenty of room to explore this area but it was rushed buy with some dodgy flash backs.

Its such a shame as I had high hopes for this :(

Went to watch it this evening and that's exactly my thoughts.

So much potential, yet so disappointing.

Film could have been longer, it felt like the ending was rushed :(

Is the book more revealing like? Goes into more detail abouit the infection, ending etc?

Felt like a waste of potential to me.

They needed another 20-30 mins to develop the plot i think,

Haven't read the book so can't compare but the ending felt rushed regardless tbh.

Also the plotline is quite similar to 28 days later as well.

I really enjoyed it. Theres obviously a lot of holes, although some of the questions in the thread are answerable if you watch the film carefull. I enjoy films that dont give you everything on a platter and picking up bits of info like off the fridge door etc is great.

Spoiler

The only bit that wasnt too obvious was the level of intelligence of the beasts. Although, i thought that the female he captured was the mate of the male that you saw as the leader. We know the leader saw him capture his female friend and took that as part of reason the leader decided to set an equal trap for Robert. But Robert's comment stating that the animals had lost all human attributes was a contradictory element considering that the scene seemed to portray the beasts capability for love.. and that the whole leader beast setting traps for Robert and pursuing him was because he took his mate?

i loved it right up until the ending. Will Smith played the part brilliantly as he always has done but yes, the ended was rushed and it didnt fit in with the pace or plot of the film. it totally felt like the ending was tacked on to just end it.

one to watch for a directors cut? they might do an alien3 with it and totally transform the film. hopefully.

Just got back from watching it, I liked it on the whole, felt the ending was very rushed, and would anyone like to tell me what happened in the end in the book, so I can see which one I prefer. A good film though and I dont feel like I want 2 hours of my life back.
SPOILER \/\/\/\/

*Think it was good, but hated the bit when the dog got killed, I nearly cried because it was awful, wanted to run out of the cinema and come and hug my dog just because I would feel the same if that happened to mine.*/ girl moment :D

The end of the book goes something like this.

There are 2 types of infected in the book, the infected people (but not vampires) and vampires. Neville spends his day time reinforcing his house and hunting the infected and vampires in whilst they are sleeping in their hive, and at night he listens to rock music and gets drunk trying to defend it. In the book Neville becomes the infected's boogieman, a bit like normal people scare of the monster under the bed who comes out at night to kill you. He has become that "legend" to them, hence the title of the book. Instead of suicide/Martyr style in the movie, he gets capture by the still living (infected people) and taken back to their place and gets executed, it is there when he finds out that he has become their "monster/Legend".

In the movie they totally twisted that around and IMO it's nowhere as powerful.

That sounds like it could be a great ending :)... Shame they didn't use that, but I still find the ending to be a good one, and I found will smith gave a very powerful performance.

Also, 'I promised my friend that I would say hello to you', 'Please say hello to me'.

My god, I was choked up at that. If there are any doubts about Will's acting ability, that 2 minute section put them to rest in my opinion.

I thought the dog was a great actor....better than will smith:p....but totally off topic the best dog actor is the Dog from ..........

The Thing!!!
