eta on 3870 x2?

Just shows you how far ahead Nvidia are, with AMD/ATi having to slap 2x cards together to beat their single ones, what a gap in performance, and what a kick in the teeth to AMD/ATi it must be.

As said by many, who bloody cares. If it performs just as well I'm sure many people will lap it up as we all know how competitive ATi pricing strategies are

I for one will be VERY tempted to shift the GTX if it comes in at a tasty price.

Looks like you shot yourself in the foot with your usual doom and gloom comment/s.

Agreed with Tom there.

nVidia will also be slapping two cards together if the rumours are anything to go by. The difference is ATi's solution will actually be worth considering due to crossfire's superior scaling.

Same here but Loadsa's yeardstick of how a company is performing seems to be based on whether they have the fastest card or not.

Newsflash - there's pretty much no money in the ultra high-end compared to the others.

best just to ignore, that's what i do.

some ppl have no concept of thinking outside the box and seem to enjoy repeating the same redundant information over and over.

What would people guess at for a price ? £230-£270 ? If it's something like that then I will defo get one considering what the possible performance figures would be - taking current 3870xt crossfire as an example.

Will be nice to be able to slap on the higher settings without taking as big a performance hit at my native res :)

Can't emphasize this enough. Often when people talk about crossfire, you will get people who have only had experience of SLI rubbishing dual card solutions, as they assume they are the same thing, which is so far from the truth.

I'm hoping 200 otherwise I'm not sure it's worth my while. Does anyone know if it will operate in Crossfire mode or just as a Single GPU?.

Yea if its £270 I certainly wont be getting one, if its £200-£230 then maybe I'll take 100 outa my bank for it but I'll have to get the GT shifted for £130.

I dont know whether i can see these coming in at less than 250 really, what with a single 3870 currently selling for between 160 and 170.

you can get them for a lot cheaper than that.

i got mine for 280 delivered ....i think the X2 will come in @ ~260-280

Did i say the 3870 X2 was gona be a bad card, no, all i said is what AMD/ATi have had to do, which everyone knows is to slap 2x cards together to compete with Nvidia, yes the 8800 GT's are classed as high-end cards, which the money is not in as everyone knows, but they are at mid-range prices which is the key, and that is where the money is, and that is where AMD/ATi are focusing, so now with Nvidia encroaching into the mid range market with high-end cards, AMD/ATi are now having to put 2x together to try and keep it, as they have no answers to the GT on a single card basis.

Its a good move imo, and hopefully its a cracker of a card, and is going to be sensibly priced to get AMD/ATi competeing again, as the GT will surely start to hurt them in the mid-range as well before long.

Im certainly not against it, if they have to put 2x together to compete then so be it, slap 2x together, price it well, could be a winner, as pricings going to be the key, look at how much you can get 2x 3870's for, and look at the performance they give, Crossfire scales a lot better than SLi, even 2x 3850's in Crossfire are crackers, so if this 3870 X2 is sensibly priced as said, AMD/ATi could do well, and id certainly buy one.

You're running a 3870?

You seem to change cards a bit recently, the other day it was 3870 in your sig then back to GT and now back to 3870.

Make your mind up :p.
