X Box 360 compared to PC Graphics

We are worlds apart then (maybe just by age as you seem young). Tried the Wii and it was fun but the lasting appeal was for one night only. Four of my m8's think the same as well but maybe used it a few times more. We all just got bored and went back to the PC. The 360 just doesn't have the titles for me to want one apart from PGR4, Fight Night 3 and a few other titles that are on their way to the PC so that makes it less attractive to me as there's not enough to entice me. My PS2 pads on my PC help me out for some games and my force feedback wheel does my racing and my mouse and keyboard do my FPS/strategy titles. I just prefer to do all my gaming on my PC.

Yeah I am 20 and still my friends over my house quite a bit. We used to do the whole lan PC gaming over the weekend thing regularly but things change.

If we all see each other it is for less amount of time and console just makes sense and is far less hassle.

EDIT: LOL I don't play Wii alone hell no :D

Ahh I see. I was much more into the consoles then too. I'm only 26 but in the last 4 years or more I've just been on the PC gaming. My m8's wander to the consoles now and then but just end up selling them or let them gather dust. We've done the LAN thing a few times but it's a hassle and in that scenario then a console is perfect I agree. For playing alone then the PC wins hands down for me. The only games I play against friends on the PC is Baseball, Pro Evolution 2008, NHL08 or the odd time trials on Colin Mcrae games or other driving titles. So on the multiplayer environment (not online) then the console can not be beaten. For a single person that can afford it and wants the best, most immersive gaming experience then the PC wins hands down.

Playing the Wii alone would be ok if you wanted to keep fit :D.

Well from your edit in post #132 I see you mention frame rate crashing with unoptimised games. Well I've seen PLENTY of slowdown on the Xbox360 in hectic moments on the screen???. How is that any different at all?. I'm sorry but it's not hard or exactly rocket science to optimise your own games and in record time. Once set that's usually it with no need for the messing about.

/thread TBH. :)

Dons should lock it now, it's getting ridiculous.

Erm........ nothing is wrong and nothing has been posted for a while and I think it was going to end that way. After some of the hissy fits I've seen you pull I somehow find your post ironically hilarious :D.

My system is an old AGP rig running a 7800GS+ & it ****** all over my 360 on a Standard TV. The benefits are Every game plays great on the 360 although i have to tweak my PC to get the best out of it.
To compare PC & 360 you have to take everything into account & not just how it looks on a screen. My 360 is a Fantastic device which makes gaming a Pleasure not a chore. My PC is a constant ongoing project & tweak environment that takes time to get the best from it with each individual game.
As above, Every gamers house should have Both a PC & a 360.

you meant pc and ps3 ;)

K my example will be gears of war. I own it on both PC and 360. When the frames go from very high on PC to still high but juddering and very high frames to lets say half that it is really noticeable and I think there was even a huge thread on it. The only times I noticed slow down on the 360 was the vid cut scenes using the game engine.

I tweak my games but sometimes it is just the game. Another example Rainbow 6 Vegas... I had to rename it FEAR and use SLI GTX's to get really smooth performance from it. Even then the framerate was a tad mental.

I guess my point is even tho some games can look better on PC they play better on the console they were optimised/designed for :)

I only left out the PS3 because i am to skint to afford one. If i had a choice of course i would have a PS3 as well.

Yeah I want one to finish off the collection... it will be my quiet lil blue-raying machine that will play those exclusives when they arrive :D but atm with the other two consoles and a PC it will have to fight for a home in my room ;)

Very true. I just wish that the same amount of work went into both PC and Console games and not just one or the other. I'm even saying that with being mainly a PC gamer. A few titles have robbed us of the gaming experience we were looking for on the PC (Spiderman3, R6 Vegas GoW) and that showed favouritism. Microsoft will want the finished article down to the bone and will pay the extra money for this to happen for the Xbox360. That's why I think the PC titles got stuffed and patched and bandaged as they go along whilst the xbox titles come out smelling of roses. It's only happened a few times so far but it's a trend I would not like to see continue.

Oh please you lot are fighting about pirate games and all sorts of rubbish like that.

Nobody here is even pretending they're not a fanboy from the looks of things.

I advise you look through the thread and you will see that was between at most two people, I was one of em and may have got the wrong end of the stick.

I could look at any thread pick one bad negative point and claim the whole thread is about it.

At the end of the day the thread pretty much went from price/performance debates to which format does each genre best whilst still discussing IQ? Hardly a reason for a thread lock LOL

It was just one example of how pointless the thread has gotten.

Yes you could but PC vs. console rubbish irks me in a whole different way, and most people in the GPU forum don't even give a rat's arse about consoles so why not just stay on-topic this one time and get it out of the way? I'm surprised Sammie377 didn't ask for a lock, he's got his answer.

The thread had calmed down, infact was down the list of activity and now its getting heated and even that 1 swear word will get you a temp ban.

Its not impossible Sammie377 knew what he was doing when he posted this thread ;) (not saying he did but could)

damn, this was a long read, some good points in it though.

In my opinion:

consoles ( on a full HD screen)

they look pretty nice, and they always work. you come home turn on the ps3, and play some games. in the evening; you ask your mates to come over; and you play in multiplayer. I played Resistance for 2 days in CO OP; and it was great. multiplayer with friends is just so much fun, pc doesnt have this at all. Also; when you buy a game, you know for sure that it will work, unlike on PC. A controller is pretty crap for firs person shooters, but for racing games it is so much better.

PCs

I love my pc, I hardly have promblems with my pc, and it looks better than the next gen consoles. mouse and keyboard will always dominate controllers in first person shooters. I only play fps on PC; so I love it. also; loading times on pc are way better than consoles.

Imo both can be very nice, and they cant really be compared. the one is expensive; the other is cheap. Consoles in term then cost a lot for the games you buy, and the games have limited lifespan, while PC games have mods, which prelong the lifespan of a game by a lot.

I agree that COD4 looks better on the PC, but i prefer playing it on the 360. Just feels better. Also i notice things like bloom and blur more on the 360 version for some reason. I also prefer the look of the 360 version even though the textures are less good. Dunno why, but i just feel it plays and feels better on the 360.

Probably because it IS a console game nomatter if its on pc or not, it has far too many consolised elements for me to even consider it a proper pc game.

At the end of the day an xbox 360 can be had for £180, and PC that runs COD4 at the same quality as the 360 version you'd have to spend at least around the £800 mark, you do the math!!!
