ford focus st260

shame ford are a bit slow on this one, tuning companies have been remaping the 225 focus to around 280bhp since near enough the day it came out...they also only charge £500!

Its no fun to drive tho, the ecu is working overtime to keep the power under control.

Its bad enough with my 225 (Well 256 according to the RR), esp in this kind of weather, that esp light is working overtime

some existing owners have 330bhp going through the front wheels.....ok if the ECU is managing it right.

nothing to do with the ecu, the RS can handle a lot of power because of the LSD on the front.

I had 263bhp through front wheels in my old st220, but had pretty big wheels. torque steer was a pain, but ok.

I reckon thats about the limit i personally would want through fwd unless it had an LSD or the boost was very linear.

£1500 for 260bhp? Why not spent £500 on a a bluefin (with warranty) and pocket the £1000?

Figures i've read elsewhere are £600 from Ford. Which is well worth it imo if you get to keep your warranty!

I was considering chipping my Focus ST until my gearbox failed and had to be replaced. Made me think twice about invalidating my warranty!

EDIT:
Apparently the £1500 includes the following:
Sports air filter
Revised engine management system
New sports exhaust

Makes a bit more sense..

£1500 for the above is a very good price, thats roughly what it would cost to do it yourself at a tuner yet you will retain a full warranty and it will be easier to insure as it should show up on insurers systems as an offical model like the Mini JCWs.

With the warranties offered by some tunners I suspect it would be a lot of work to get them to pay up if say a gearbox failed on a remapped car the dealer would say it was due to the remap and the tunner will say its not and it would be a lot of work to get it sorted at lest with a dealer remap it should be no problem. And despite what tunners say dealers can detect remaps if they look hard enough, within 2 mins in a remapped Leon with a laptop I could tell it had been remapped.

What ford should do is offer this for the original models aswell I bet they would get a good bit of business out of it as would Vag if they offered it for there 2L TFSi engined cars.

it is....the ecu can manage the power so that it's given gradually and only in certain gears.

roumour has it that the new ecu's aren't that easy to flash anymore. people are finding ways around it, but it could be that ford are trying to be a little sly.

also, the £1500 option would mean you get fords full warranty. I know the likes of wolf will offer warranty for a year on their though.

the upgrade is avaliable to existing owners - mentions it in the original link

I've also got to wondering what the fiesta kit could be, getting an extra 35bhp out of a NA engine seems quite hard.
