Warner go Blu-Ray exclusive

That is HUGE news imo

20% of DVD sales in the US are Warner - and they are going BR exclusive by May 2008 (with delayed releases of HD-DVD until then)

I think HD-DVD will really start to struggle now

Well Blu-Ray has over 70% exclusive hollywood content - surely that is enough to win a war? Just paramount to go really, though they've been bribed so could be a while

Wow I didnt expect this. I would have though it would have gone the other way personaly considering all the releses they had on hd-dvd last year.

This is good news for the blu.

I buy films on both formats but I would prefer blu-ray to win.

OH my word!!! There have been rumours for months but I never thought it would happen... Looks like things could be over quicker than expected, I own both blu-ray and HD-DVD but it is now getting to the point where I am worrying about buying into a dying format.

I like blu-ray but I just wish it was region free, I would do anything for lost season 3 on blu-ray for our region and it seems like nearly all new release are restricted. I just wonder what would be happening now if universal hadnt gone exclusive.

Dual format, don't care :) Given my HD-DVD player cost me -£100, the definitely applicable phrase is "Am I bovvered?"

haha if only Paramount had stayed Dual-format, then Blu-Ray might have been totally dominant. This just makes things even more complicated. :(

I'm still dual-format atm, but I want a single format so I can buy one single high-quality HD player!

The answer, of course, still lies in dual format players. Solve all the problems in one fell swoop, as well as allowing studios to benefit from the increased capacity of BR when it's needed, and the much lower production costs of HD-DVD when it's not.

There is no technical reason why this can't be done, it's just stupid corporate politics.
