How many times have you read the Gospel according to Mary? Or Judas? Or the others I named?

How many times have you read, or had read to your, or been quoted to from the Gospels contained in the bible?

If there is anything like equality between those two figures I will be astounded.

There is a reason for this.

Gospel of Thomas
Gospel of Mary
Gospel of James
Gospel of Judas

These four were left out of the bible. Mary Magdalene was Jesus' partner and closest and most devoted disciple. Why would her Gospel be left out? Same question for the others really, are they not particularly important?

I wasn't arguing that. Read my post again.

It can be seen from certain points that the bible contradicts what we have found through science as to the age of the Earth. No argument stands up against it unless you bypass what is said in your holy book. At which point you might as well not bother with it at all.

As we have seen above, the holy book is tainted, due to being selectively created. I stand by my assertion that it is a storybook created to aid in the mass control of the people it was created for. Thats why some Gospels and other important documents were left out of it. Because they didn't fit in with what the compilers of the bible were trying to do.

they were left out as they did not bring anything new to the table compared to the other books.

Gilly you make a lot of asumptions and i fear they most probably wind ups.

all of the books you stated are possible to get ** hands on, and they do not contradict what is in the bible, but the point of compilation is to make something concise, and including the most important bits.

yeah sorry missed that bit ;)

absolute power cerupts (excuse the spelling dyslexic at work) absolutely, the church has power espicialy when the bible was ammased, while it is a human flaw it happens.

the catholic church was/is corrupt. agreed.

the bible was compiled before it was corrupt and had lots of power.

No, they were left out because they contained information they didn't want the people to know.

There are no wind-ups here. I wouldn't do that. Everything I am saying I believe is right.

Think back to 2 years after the bible was compiled. Do you believe that these books would have been readily available?

The very fact that you have never read or heard from the Gospels that were left out of the bible, but have many a time heard and read the Gospels that were put into the bible only proves my point. The unwanted Gospels held information that the compilers didn't want to be in the public domain. It worked. It is still working today.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that your father is a christian.

What form of power do you believe the church gained? Wasn't control was it.

ok guse i was taking roman catholic church to literally ;)

roman catholic church was set up by the romans hence the name, but the roman cotholic church was by no means the first church.

my father's family are atheist i'll have you know, he became a christian later in life.

the bible wasnt readily available at all to begin with, because most people were illiterate, and printing methods slowed down distrubution.

the bible isnt supposed to be the only witness to christianity, just a compiled essentials book if you like.

So?

the bible wasnt readily available at all to begin with, because most people were illiterate, and printing methods slowed down distrubution.

And even less readily available were the gospels that were left out, because they didn't match what the people in power wanted. The bible has endured down the ages and has been taught for centuries. The other gospels were largely forgotten and supressed for a long, long time.

the bible isnt supposed to be the only witness to christianity, just a compiled essentials book if you like.

And yet the second most central and essential personage in the whole thing wrote a gospel only for it to be left out!

who are you calling essential?

and you said you were not surprised my dad was a chrsitian, i took that to mean you were implying i just say what he says/thinks and question things myself and think for myself. just believe it becasue im told its right. which is not the case, my parents let me make my own decission, hence im not baptised, yet.

why is he more important than any other disciple?

She. She was first to bear witness to the disappearance of the body of Jesus, she was first to witness him alive and to speak to him after his resurrection, accompanied Jesus on his journey to Jerusalem, after all this joining the apostles. She was supposedly his lover and the mother of his child.

And yet her Gospel was ignored entirely. Why is that?

SHE was not a disciple, all of his disciples were male.

What is the Last Supper a painting of?

im not too familiar with the painting tbh. it's only a medieval interpretation/symbolic impression anyway

but the girl in the middle i asume might be Judas, as he sometimes reffered to as a coward, not sure tbh. but there are 12 male apostles, no female. Mary Magdalene was not a disciple.

going by this anyway...
