Devil May Cry 4

First AAA game of 2008 should be Alan Wake.
Burnout Revenge can also be classed as AAA.

DMC has gone downhill after the first one (a lot like Metal Gear Solid really), but I dunno whether you could class it as AAA. Seems like wishful thinking to me. To be AAA a game has to be continually high quality through every iteration, DMC hasn't been.

What? MGS series has went down since the first one? 2 was a great game, not as good as the first but still one of the best on PS2. MGSPO was a great game and MGS3 is arguably the best in the series. Your saying Burnout is AAA but DMC isn't? Alan Wake will not be out before Devil May Cry.

The installation to the HDD is to aid loading, I don't believe it loads the whole game to the HDD. The Xbox360 doesn't have to do this because it has a faster drive. Just looks like an excuse to get it on PS3. Personally, I'll get it on whichever format it performs better on.

I know it's for loading, and it's a difference enough for me to buy it for the PS3. If I can get nearly seamless loading levels where I would have to wait for about 10 seconds on the 360, then I would buy it for the PS3. It would be the same case if this was the opposite case for the 360.

An excuse to get it on the PS3? What are you talking about? The reason I said I would get it on the PS3 is because it seems more likely to perform better on it. People who have both systems want to get it on the one that the game runs better on (the loading).

Anyway, I might pickup DMC1 as I lost it when I was playing through it. However I don't think it has aged very well, so I might just play DMC3. I might not play any of them and just wait for 4 though :)

had a quick watch of a few of the vids, looks damn good.

Also, £32.99 if you preorder *** SE version at the moment
(no idea what the difference is between this and the normal edition tho)

I wouldn't say it would be much of a challenge. Devil May Cry is a top notch franchise.

well i did say i had played the previous versions so unless theres a RADICAL departure then it will be close

If youve been reading the console threads more recently surely you know that i rate Heavenly Sword as the best next-gen fighting game.
And ive had this discussion before with other people on this forum.......uhhh

EDIT: you in fact lol sneaky Nokkon i didnt realise it was you (wtf name change?). Remember ive played both DMC1+2 :p You aint never gonna change my mind about HS dude

And what are you reasons for not getting an Xbox360 then? Because the same argument doesn't hold up.

Quite simply, i am looking forward to exclusive playstation games: metal gear solid 4, tekken 6, final fantasy 13 and whatever else that will come out for it in the future... i know what to expect from playstation platform and that is great (and probably exclusive) adventures/rpgs/beat em ups. My opinion of course!

I was always going to get a ps3 eventually, the question was simply when... dmc4 is enough reason for me to buy one, along with the current price. Ive been holding out because all of the current games that are out dont really interest me

edit: just realised i only gave reasons to why im getting a ps3. The reasons for why im not getting a 360: im not really interested in 360 exclusives, 360 does good fps but i prefer fps on pc, i probably wont be able to afford 2 next gen consoles, and also because my brother owns a 360 so i can play the odd game that appeal to me :p

I always thought DMC had gone down hill since the 1st (I never bothered playing 2&3 after hearing bad things) but after seeing DMC4 in action I'll be picking this up fer sure.

Defo a Ninja Gaiden beater for me, Gaiden games aren't too highly ranked for me.

That's a nice change, it will be good to have both platforms performing equally.

Just listened/watched this review thing from 1UP who are one of the few who have played both the 360 and ps3 versions supplied by Capcom.

They say that the ps3 one "looks better" side by side. Also the PS3 one will allow you to a do a 5Gb install to the HDD to remove all loading times. Apparently there was also tearing on the 360 version, but It is too early to say for certain what will be the final outcome. I know a ps3 demo is planned before game release, so I am sure there will be a 360 demo as well for dual format owners to try before they buy.

This one is definitely a ps3 purchase for me (provided I get enough time to finish dmc3 before the new one comes out!!)

Edit: The 1UP guys reckon it out does NJ2 already! (Something about DMC4 having real time weapon switching unlike NJ1/2 although I don't know if this is one of those PS3 jokes or not).

Some foreign sites have received review copies so the game is final now.

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/01/04/devil-may-cry-gets-sixaxis-support-achievements/

Bad/Good news is that the 5Gb install is mandatory on ps3. (weirdly enough no-one has timed the install as surely that will be a bone of contention for some!!).

Good in the sense that out of the box (assuming graphics are the same), you will get a better experience on the ps3 (again, assuming rumours of no load times on ps3 with 5gb install are tue).

Bad in the sense 5GB is a lot for a single game. (I have 22Gb out of 55Gb free so don;t really care).

Sixaxis support sounds a bit tacked on, and this achievement thing doesn't do it for me anymore anyway.

There would have to be some major difference in the 360 version to convince me to gte that over the ps3 version in light of the above I think. Now it is just a case of

1) Import and save money and have a few days after release.
2) Pay a bit more in UK and have game early, but have loads of other games to play so won't play straight away anyway!!

Never played the first three but looking forward to this. Might get the PS3 version due to the loading times if it makes much of a difference.
