Does anyone else here still play/paint warhammer?

i have just got back into it and i forgot how good it was when i used to paint them, except my painting hand has since gotten a lot more steadier from 3-4 years back. here is what i have managed to conjure up so far, anyone else feel like posting some pics?

i have some more designs that im going to do, second Tyranid is in painting.

i dont think i will upload high quality piccys as they show minor dents in my teqnique :D

some of the painting is excellent, but I can't help but laugh at the twenty-somethings living in their parent's basement carrying those black plastic briefcases around.

I've been having a mental battle with myself for the last few months, whether walking into games workshop with a big plastic tank and putting it on the table, before just standing looking serious and asking to play too, is a good idea or not.

It seems funnier in my head than I fear it would be in reality.

Its whether you enjoy playing it, i used to go to the sessions to learn when i was about 10 and could never pick it up also found it boring with the moronic 40 year old shop assistants yelling as if they were their in the middle of an epic battle.

I dont find a lot of things interesting but i enjoy doing this.

Stopped many years ago (14 or so) when it got way to expensive. I do love the fiction however, some quality novels. Still actually have loads of the models stashed away, mostly painted.

Used to love painting them, but the growing cost soon drove me away. Pretty much every model is re-released every once in a while aren't they? Sometimes making the previous versions useless, so you have to buy them again

Not a chance would I get back into it now, the people you see in those shops are possibly the geekiest I've ever seen and/or heard.

I find it horrific that they can charge little kids £20 just for a plastic soldier or tank.

I dabbled in warhammer but quit because 1) it was way to espensive and 2) I realised that my pussy magnet was weakining :(

I do enjoy painting them when I have the time, not played since I was a wee nipper mind.

As said above, the just re-release old miniatures now and rarely bring something new to the table.

Still enjoy painting mind ;).

i do agree they do overcharge, but i spend more time painting them than watching a brand new film and probably costs the same amount. i also take my time painting, the Tyranid took me about a week to complete and i am still missing bits like the base, second arms and perhaps some leeches.

the only expensive thing that i think they majorly overcharge for is the paint, last time i bought it at the shop it was £1.80 for 12ml's.

the fact is though even though the staff whom work their are a bit ecstatic they help you with any painting problems you might have, free wargame lessons and the fact that they actually know their stuff.

The guy in the Channel 4 documentary "The Rules of Seduction" who is apparently the UK's best pick-up artists plays and paints Warhammer and D&D models. The documentary even briefly shows him doing some painting. :o

I haven't got the time to play or anything these days, but painting from time to time can be relaxing. :)

He seemed like an utter *%$*!.

I got back into them about a year ago and now have about 1200 of Tau painted (badly:p), with about twice as many points again waiting to be painted (I've finished one mega set, and have another, plus rapid insertion force set, some kroot and krootox).

I'm actually off to visit a few friends with my brother at the end of the month for 4 days of gaming (about 8 of us will be playing in teams).

Re the comment about older people painting - when you're 20+ and have your own transport, house etc it's much more practical to play, for one thing you can get to the games on your own, for another you are more likely to have room for a gaming table and a couple of friends :)

Where's Wolfie so I can laugh at him? :(

meh :p

I used to love it (Warhammer 40,000), but it was ludicrously expensive (20 quid for a dreadnought?! - a walking tank).

I also remember chaos being the best team by so far it was a joke. It was pretty cool reading all about the weapons and such. I did enjoy my totally bad arse bad moon 'mega armour' ork with a heavy plasma gun and a power claw :D

Was good fun as a child.
