Now?
Isn't it Bradistan now?
I don't have the 'proper' Yorkshire accent, my Dad does being born in Leeds.
I was brought up In Harrogate so have the posher accent
We have some friends in Barnsley, their accent can be annoying sometimes!
North Yorkshire is wonderful, and quite different to the rest.
I couldn't think of a better place to grow up as a kid.
Not been to Harrogate my self though, as I grew up Pickering (a small market town for those that don't know.)
I miss home![]()
Travelling past Leeds was grim, but once we got to Bridlington and that was nice, Bridlington was like a smaller version of Blackpool, Whitby was a very nice place to go, nice and clean and plenty of history.
He said Wakefield not Bratford
I don't have a problem with Wakey. There are many worse places even in Yorkshire. They did live in Kettlethorpe though if memory serves so I'm not all that surprised.
Yeah, was at Pickering yesterday working.
I lived in Kettlethorpe for a bit, Stanley for a bit and Normanton for a bit, and my parents lived just out of the city which was terrible. (Near Marsh Way House and Lightwaves for those who know the area). that's where I lived for about 17 years and it got worse when I moved out.
My parents have just moved to Alverthorpe which is quite nice, and there are some other nicer areas, Wooley, Sandal, etc. However my theory is if you have to say 'the nice bit of (insert town here)', then really, it's a dump.
I lived in Normanton for 23 years, and now live about 5 minutes walk from Lightwaves. Small world.
