*** The Official G92 8800GTS 512 Overclocking Thread ***

ive had mine clocked @795/1095/2000, fan @100%, for benchmarking, good for 3dmark (14600) in o6 but it carps out in games:(

just took the core to 800Mhz, stable so far, gonna try crysis in a bit, if anything will show instability that will :)

Hey, I have mine clocked to:

Clock: 775MHz
Memory: 1054MHz
Shader: 1922MHz

It is fully stable and when idle I am around 40°C and at full load it reaches 50°C. I am using a custom dynamic fan speed control in RivaTuner and it doesn't go above 55% at full load which is nice because it is still inaudible over my other case fans.

I have one question, is an idle temperature of 40°C safe, or should I be aiming for lower? My Q6600 (G0) is currently at 3.6GHz and I am getting a 3D Mark 06 score of around 15055 without closing all my programs down.

use custom settings so thats proberbly whats slowing things down so much, but man it looks fabulous

Yea I use a custom CFG so it looks better than Very High and still performs ok :D. Have to turn shadows down to medium but no difference whatsoever.

Got mine running nicely about 50 degrees at 775/1940/1000, not sure if I want to go any higher yet as at stock I could run everything on highest on CoD4 without dropping below 60fps (Sync'd).

Can I setup profiles so that the fan speed automatically increases to 60%/66% when running a game, I'm looking through a guide on Guru3D ATM but I'm not sure if thats what I want.

edit:
Ohh its a bit of a pain but um getting there.

Tbh I haven't totally tested mine, tried it at 800 first but didn't up the fan speed an it stayed at 30%.
However it was stable until 68 degrees and Ive played many hours so far in games.

Now if I can just get RivaTuner to load at boot in Vista :/

Damn how can you all get your cards that high? Mine's completely bugging out at anything over 740 core :/

overclocking video cards is pretty hit and miss, you get some exceptional overclockers and some below average overclockers, just game of luck really

I can get mine to 801/1148/2098

However I can't seem to get the core to budge over that much, dissapointingly from a fun aspect. Still pretty fast, although I run the settings a bit looser for heat and stability.

Just got my 8800 yesterday. Before I push it too far, what would be considered average idle and load temps and at what temp would be considered too hot?

Cheers

Dave

What i don't get is that i can have it stable at 75 degrees, then it'll completely crash at 72 degrees, and i'll turn the fan speed up, it'll be stable at 65 degrees, and then crash at 62 degrees, it's a damn strange card :P

But i'm not complaining, great performance anyway, just need a new CPU.

don't worry i hit a brick wall as well, anything over my current clock and its unstable, getting full cover waterblock ASAP see if i can't make it 100% stable and nice and cool :)

How can you get BETTER than everything on Very High. Surely your custom cfg is a compromise. I think it's just your personal opinion/belief that it looks better (prob plays better, with less chop).

Annoyingly I had 800/1100 running stable this morning, I ran 3D mark fine but then refused to connect to the results browser. Ran it again and it crashed. Double checked stabilty using ATI tool and it was no longer stable. Best I can now get is 760/1050. Still and decent increase over stock so its good enough for me :D

no, hes telling the truth, my custom looks better than very high as well, lots of stuff isn't utilised in crysis even on very high settings

It just goes to show Crytek should have took at least another 10 mins on getting the settings right :\, people would be getting better performance through all the settings then I rekon.
