***Official MacBook Air Thread***

It's a tough call, I think it'll appeal most to those who have imacs or mac pros, it's the obvious companion for those systems.

Yeah i doubt many people will want to use it as their main system. If i had an iMac it might be quite tempting, but the MacBook ticks both options for me as i can use it as a desktop in clamshell or as a portable.

I'm SO glad they didn't release something that I'd actually want. I wouldn't want one of them, seems way too lacking compared to other products

Look it's cheaper in the USA because of the exchange rate, you can't expect companies to fluctuate their prices every minute to reflect the currency situation all over the world can you.

I live in France and because the € is strong at the moment I have to pay more than the UK. For example a top spec iMac is £1675 for me in France but in the UK it's £1459

TBH i think the macbook air is an amazing gadget, but for me personally my MBP 15.4" is more powerful and sexier in my opinion :) and i think my MBP is kinda compact considering the technology.

Also the macbook air prices are v.high but as said already it's because of the newish tech and the 60% smaller core2duo chips, but if you have money to burn and want a slick gadget to show off to your mates then why not.

It's just not for me....

Great technology showpiece but I can't see these selling even with the apple badge on it

glad it doesnt make me want to replace my month old macbook, imo the macbook is my desktop replacement and its portable enough

Me too - looks fantastic -but the spec is what makes it stand out as a 'true portable' - the battery life isnt bad on my macbook - but given the size of the battery on that thing anything quicker would probably eat it!

Nice - but I'm happy with my macbook for the foreseeable future!

Swapping the normal 80GB out for the 64GB SSD costs £639

So the standard one is a hefty premium for a thin laptop. £639 extra for the proper next-gen model..

The actual laptop doesn't look very tempting looks-wise either. :(

Blimey, thats one sexy ultraportable laptop! Its a good spec for its size, but i wouldnt pay that much when the macbook isnt that much larger, but spose thats not ultraportable.
