Which new mountain bike should I get

Out of those 2 you'd be better off with the front suspension bike. I personally wouldn't have either but if your getting it free then you may as well. The full suspension bike will weigh a ton and the rubbish suspension will just hinder your ability to ride uphill.

Full Sus at this price is junk as said.

Will be stupidly heavy, the rear suspencion will sap any power from the pedal stroke, more to go wrong, etc etc...

Go for the hardtail if you must have one of the two!

going by those two choices , id rather spend the 100 quid on crack cocaine and infected hookers ,than to risk my life on either of those tin traps.

I doubt there that bad, I had a 100quid bike from toys r us years ago and its still going strong.

I bought a halfords cheap bike to keep me going until I bought something nicer.

Handlebars fell off two days later.

Aye it was simple to fix and luckily I wasn't on the road but on dirt path.

It started with them twisting towards me then when I turned they came completely loose, fell off through the clamp thing and dangled down by the wheel!

The Boardman bikes are decent entry level bikes from Halfrauds but don't go full sus for road work.

Steel will be a more comfortable ride and up to 100mm front travel will be more than sufficient.

I ride a rigid Zaskar on the road with P2 forks and it flies, but it's a very stiff, hard ride.

Paul's Cycles have some very good offers on hardtails from 06 if you trawl the site.

Something like this will be superb as an entry into the sport.

That's pretty common from Halfords, as the bikes are ready packed and only require for the bars to be fitted/tightened up and for the front wheel to be fixed, and the front brake arms to be adjusted.

Bunch of muppets.
