How much Holiday : 2008

27 days plus BH.

My job works quite well though, I work the odd extra here and there, often from home and I get lieu time off so its easy to get an extra day.

The local engineers here get 120 days a year! Admittedly it's a 6 day week (36 hours), but that still leaves 68 days by uk standards. That doesn't even include bank holidays etc.

Personally, i get 14 calendar days every 3 months.

5 weeks + bank holidays. Post-uni, this seems like some sort of cruel joke, particularly when we're obliged to go into college for exam study bank holiday or not.

Everyone gets far too many holidays, I'm self employed and I employ 30 ppl as its a right pain maintaing my staff levels and trying to get everyone their holidays. If you think working for someone else is hard try working for yourself. This year I'll be lucky if i get 1 week holiday.

Yeah, how does 'buying holiday' work? We can request unpaid leave in addition to paid holiday, but I've never heard of buying holiday before (unless its effectively the same thing).

Can't speak for other places but at ours you work out what benefits you want from the company once a year, e.g. travel insurance, extra holiday days, dental cover etc etc. You get a certain number of benefits as standard and then there are other options you can purchase which you pay for monthly out of your pay.

With leave we can purchase up to 5 days to give up to a maximum of 30 days total. You can also sell up to 5 days to.

Should have been 29 Days, but I accidentally took 5 days too many last year so ive got 24 this year. Still not too bad, although all my holidays have to be taken in peak time since I work in a College.

To anyone who's only getting 20 days, the legal minimum is now 24 days (or 4.8 weeks). From April 2009, this increases to 5.6 weeks.

I got about 3 weeks from the current tax year which will rollover in April to give me about 7 weeks. :D

That sounds like you get about the minimum?
You do realise, it's illegal to roll over if you haven't literally taken the minimum time off work.

For example

Matey gets 24 days
He takes 14 days
He CANNOT roll over 10 days

Chappy gets 30 days
He takes 24 days
he CAN roll over 6 days

i get 10 days whenever i want, 12 days factory shutdown and 7 days at christmas :(

Get some but all not bank holidays (only get 1 day at easter for example)

ive never heard of this buying back holiday before?

i assume each day costs the earnings of that day?

if less, buy the whole friggin year :p

I wasted 5 days holiday last year, didnt realise i had 10 holiday left with 2 weeks to go before xmas :( and company only let you take 5 days over, so this year im going to remember to take more holiday lol.
