Keegan appointed new Newcastle manager, again.

A man enters a bar and orders a drink. The bar has a robot barman.

The robot pours him the perfect pint, and then asks him, "What's your
IQ?"The
man replies "150" and the robot proceeds to make conversation about global
warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality, biomimicry,
environmental
interconnectedness, string theory, nanotechnology, and
international development issues.

The customer is very impressed and thinks, "This is really cool." He
decides to
test the robot so he walks out of the bar, turns around, and comes back in
for
another drink.

Again, the robot serves him a perfectly prepared drink and asks him,
"What's
your IQ?"

The man responds, "about 100."
Immediately the robot starts talking, but this time, about football, rugby,
supermodels, favorite foods, guns, and body parts.Really impressed, the man
leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test.

He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies, "Er, 25, I think."

And the robot says, really slowly, "So........... how do you think King
Kevin will
do then?"

All i know is I had 2 bets one £20 @ 20:1 and £5 @ 24:1 on KK getting the job :) needless to say i will enjoy saturday before and after the match :)

This is comedy tbh :D How long will it be before the fans are calling for his head when he dont win the league this year ? lol

Honestly, it's like talking to kids. Have you actually read this thread, or spoken to any Newcastle fans or have you just blundered in here and decided to make a smartalec remark?

No-one and I can't say this often enough, thinks that we are going to win the league under Keegan (if they do say this then I suspect the are taking the **** in a very dry humoured way). I still think that we are looking at UEFA cup qualification next season as a decent bet, and if you were listening to 5Live last night you'd know that all the Newcastle fans they spoke to during their live show form St James' Park were saying pretty much the same thing. I don't care if we don't win so much as the Carling Cup. All anyone wants is attractive football that we can appreciate and enjoy watching, something that only SBR has given us since Keegan last left.

Yes, it may be a triumph style over substance, but what's the point of winning games if there is no pleasure in the actual 90 minutes required to do it? You may as well just read the results in the paper and not even read the match report.

Alladyce went because he was never the right man for Newcastle, the fans new it from day one and so did the players. There was nothing that he or the board could do about that and everyone knew it so the best thing for all concerened was that he left.No-one has an axe to grind with BSA, no-one thinks he's a rubbish manager and no-one really blames him for what happend - it was just a mistake and these things happen.

So, we've got Keegan now and he's apparently been given a lot to spend. It will be interesting and it will be good to watch, regardless of what happens on the pitch, it's just a question of when and how it ends. I don't care what anyone else thinks but results will improve under Keegan (out of our last 8 managers he had by far and away the highest wins ratio and even if he doesn't acheive that it can't get any worse).

There appear to be loads of folk posting in this thread who are willing us to fail, but they are defining success and failure by their own terms, not the ones that mean anything to me or any other Newcastle fan, because they refuse to understand what we want.

Personally, I'm still unsure about KK; when he first came to Newcastle as a manager he'd been out of football for a while and was full of honest enthusiasm and earnestness. However, since then he has left Newcastle and has been though the problems he had with England and alledgedly at Manchester City. It will be interesting to see how that has changed him.

Whatever happens though, it's going to be fun.

See?! I'm not the only one on the rollercoaster, there's thousands of us! :D

I don't recall where I read it, but someone said yesterday that all he wanted was to be able to enjoy watching Newcastle play again and if some silverware turned up during the course of that, he'd be a happy man. Can't say I disagree.

For the first time in quite a while, people are looking forward to Saturday afternoon - that in itself is a cause for celebration :D

ps - well said, Asprilla

\0/ my brethren :D

It's funny that other supporters don't define success the way we do. It's just that we've been without silverware for so long we've pretty much accepted that it's unlikely for us to get any so we just want to watch good football.

Well said [DOD]Asprilla, Skidmark and Panzer.

That’s the funny thing about us Newcastle supporters. We accept that we are a mediocre middle of the table team and all we want to see is a bit of entertainment.

We know that we are years off winning the title or even competing for a Champions League spot and we are happy if we see a few goals, don’t get hammered every week as long as the players are giving 100% and we aren’t just humping the ball long for EVERY attack.

The problem is that Sky shoves a camera into the face of a few young lads who have been on the fizzy pop and get them chanting tat about winning the league and “watch out Chelsea” and other fans think this is the voice of the whole Geordie nation and call us delusional. Surely it’s delusional of the other fans to think that these drunked up fans speak for the whole of the North East.

Most of the fans I know like the fact that KK has come back as it has brought back enthusiasm to the team and a bit of excitement, but we are under no illusions that we will be challenging for anything in the next few years.

Hopefully in the next few years we’ll have some good cup runs, bring a bit of stability to the team, some entertainment to the fans and maybe push for a UEFA cup spot. This is what I see as the view of the “normal” fan.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong :)

Apparently Kevin keegan hasn't seen a live game in over 3 years... but he says he is really looking forward to Newcastles league game against Leeds Utd!!

Good luck boys!! :D

spot on, the media portrayal of what we expect is so far wrong, you can basically see from this thread what the real fans think

Cheers Nitro.

To back that up, one of me mates was at St James Park the other night and the usual TV crew were there looking for people to interview.

He said that you could see them letting the normal looking fans walk past coz all they were after is some mad fan saying how we are going to win the title next year and that we are going to hammer Man U.

I guess it doesn't make interesting viewing (or reading) if a fan says that they hope that we can get a bit of stability over the next 2-3 years then maybe push for a UEFA spot after that.

LOL!!!

....coming from a Spurs fan, who incidentally, are still not even above us in the table despite the fact we've had our worst manager in recent years, makes it quite funny.

Aye, as I said at the time, the kids theyat were jumping up and down shouting 'Shearer, Shearer!' at the first Stoke game had to be asked two or three times because they didn't want to do it. It was just a couple of kids on blue fizzy pop who wanted to be on TV.
