Am I a right bugger for not doing it? / Rant warning

Lol, my bad!
I thought I was looking at the page of 'new posts' I often have open but actually I was looking at my search results for something else entirely. Didn't think it was a 14 month old topic. :o

Anyway I was trying to say I agree with the reply by Crystaline, not go against it.

wow hen dawg thats kinda lame.

?

I don't give blood or to charity. Don't worry about it. Just because she gives £5k to charity (btw WTF is that about) doesn't mean you have to.

The only reason i don't give blood is because i wouldn't want to feel my blood being sucked out of me. lol

It's your decision to make. You should have told her to **** off. It's all good and well being a saint, except when you're a self-righteous, sanctamonious **** with it.

Modesty is a word you should teach this lass.

What a self righteous cow. Tell her to mind her own ****** business. People like that irritate the hell out of me. Although, you should consider doing it at least once as its for a good cause and costs nothing.

If she got 5000 for her birthday it sounds like her family is quite well off. It's your choice to give to charity and generally most people do it to help other. Not to look better infront of their friends.

As for blood, I'm old enough to give blood aswell but I have not done so. Personally I just feel a bit weird about it at the minute.

These sort of people grind my gears, I give blood when it's not tainted with too much alcohol and if I can I like to give a bit of money to charity if there's a money collection or agree with the cause. I ran loads of charity stuff at school but I never thought to blow my own trumpet about. You should never feel you have the right to have a go at someone for not doing something that is an entirely optional thing to do. What she did is just plain rude. It's just an ego trip on her part making her seems superior and it's pathetic. To be given that sort of money on her 18th she's also got to be pretty well off so it comes down to whether she needed the money. The people I feel should be able to gloat about charity work are those who have to go without them selves to help others.

Tell her where to stick her pretentious rubbish tbh.

Who the hell gives 5 grand that they got for their birthday to charity? Sure, giving to charity is great but she sounds like a spoiled attention whore.

Giving to blood is a good, selfless act that I encourage anybody to do but you don't need to shout about it, unless you crave attnetion...

DO IT! There's no reason NOT to give blood (if you can)... There are no downsides you dont lose anything... Seriously if you choose not to you really have no logical reason not to, you're just choosing not to for the sole reason of chosing not to.

Now money, thats a different matter, money can make your own life better, whether you choose to make your own life better with it or someone elses is up to you, I would not dare say it is selfish to want to use what you have worked for and gained kept to yourself & those you care about, its part of life.

I know I'm a git about giving blood and giving to charity. But here's the breakdown.

1. The blood is mine and i hate the thought of my blood going to someone whose fault it is they're in a bad situation. e.g suicide, self inflicted car crash or idiocy. My blood. Not theirs.

2 I refuse to give to charity, I've seen endless adverts trying to guilt trip me into giving money and I think its a unfair tactic. Dogs don't talk or write letters which is stupid in itself, and i know kids are beaten and people are dying but with the statistics available telling you the percentage of your donation which goes directly to them, it doesn't add up that it makes a difference. And I'm a student! In debt! People who tell me I should give should consider my £7000 debt.

And the people who need it for operations, haemophiliacs (a genetic disorder) and car crashes that aren't "self inflicted"? I'm not sure how those who have committed suicide would have any use for blood, being dead.
I don't give blood because i can't for the time being but your so called reasons are ridiculous. If you had simply said you don't like the idea fine but that little selfish rant is on par, if the opposite end of the spectrum, to the girl spoken about in the OP.
