Understeer...And Oversteer...

Nice pics

Whereabouts are they taken?

A little while ago I posted up a couple of photos I'd scanned in from the 1984 Welsh International Rally at Pembrey, so heres the whole lot! They were taken by my dad, and my mum's best friend's father was codriving a 6R4 (Colin Francis, who also co-drove with Penti Airikkala for a while, and still does historic rallies now!).

I've actually managed to understeer and oversteer at the same time on a 330o turn on a greasy roundabout. Sadly I didn't have time to watch the hand-gestures of the two cars I skidded past....

I was driving rather lively ( Not silly speeds ) around some country lanes last night.. and experianced oversteer for the first time..

It wasn't nice :|

Right hand bend, back end comes out to the left, I snap the steering over to the left and then jumped on the brakes once it straightened up, It scared me enough to give me the shakes for the next 1/2 hour...

That was in a 306 HDi Dturbo ( 3 Door ) , I'm not sure if I lifted off and made it step out, the road was bumpy on the bend though where some tree roots have lifted the tarmac.

The best way to deal with it is the put the power back on and steer into the slide ?

Man, I used to do that for fun in my Saxo, lift-off oversteer was so predictable and controllable. Don't make any sudden throttle/brake adjustments, steer into the slide, come out of the corner at the other end, grinning :D
