Football Fixtures 19-20th January **Spoilers**

He was rubbish against us (Man Utd) and kept passing us the ball when we played earlier in the season.

He wouldn't get into the Man Utd midfield as a definite starter (I would like him as a squad player), but I wouldn't be so bold as to say he'd get into any team, as that's not true. Maybe squad, but not first 11.

From Liverpool I'd take Reina, Agger, Gerrard, Mascherano and Torres. I wouldn't think about anyone else and of those, only 2 would start for Man Utd for me (Reina and Gerrard).

Why would you take Gerrard? I assume you're talking about a full strength Man U team here, so essentially you're saying you'd play Gerrard over Scholes? Madness.

He's their main problem and you'll find quite a few Liverpool fans who agree too. He isn't disciplined enough to play in the middle. Seriously, they'd have been better off selling him when they had the chance and making Alonso their main man in midfield.

For Arsenal's first team there isn't a single Liverpool player I'd take, seriously. I'd have 2-3 for the squad though.

Torres and Gerrard. and Torres would rotate with Rooney and Tevez not replace either. i take Hlebios point on Gerrard because sometimes he does go far too much for the hollywood ball and in terms of retaining possession i think both United and Arsenal do fine in the centre of the park and might lose out a bit on that with Gerrard in there. Occasionally though he is exceptional and really drives the team on. they're both tricky ones really, because even with gerrard i can see him messing up our style of play as often as improving it. Reina is possible, Agger i'd take for the squad but not to displace any of our first choice certainly.

None of Liverpool's squad would get in United's first XI, at the start of the season I'd have taken Torres but Tevez has fitted in so well that it'd be a sideways step rather than an improvement. I really don't rate Reina either so certainly wouldn't take him over VdS.

Finnan is better than what Man U have on offer, I rate him higher than Brown. Gerrard and Torres would also make the team. I was a bit dubious about Reina but I think he's a decent keeper now, the last time I saw VDS was against 'pool and he was awful. His decision making was poor.

as soon as Neville is back he's not, to be honest i wouldn't mess with our back line at all currently. Gerrard can be an improvement when he's on his game but plays football in a slightly different way to how we're doing it currently and Torres could rotate with Tevez and Rooney but i wouldn't have him replace either of them.

I've already said I don't think I'd take any Liverpool players in to Arsenal's strongest first team, and I think that'd be the same case if I was a supporter of Chelsea or Man U.

And as I've already said, any Man U fan with sense would not have Gerrard in their team, assuming we're talking about full strength. Scholes is a whole class above Gerrard and any other English midfielder for that matter.

How long has Neville been out now? Nearly a year in April is it? God knows how he'll perform when he's back in the team, he's no spring chicken anymore and these injuries could have some detrimental effects on his game.

First game with the reserves and he scored, so it would appear... better ;)

I agree, but Scholes is very near the end of his career too. I'd have Gerrard over Carrick or Hargreaves though.

But a Scholes and Gerrard midfield partnership with be an absolute disaster. Despite popular belief, Gerrard can't play the holding role at all well.

What have you been smoking?

Some laughable posts in here, none of the Liverpool first team would get into any of Chelsea's, Arsenal's or United's first XI?

I understand Hlebio you're probably just joining the slate Liverpool bandwaggon that's going around recently and you're entitled to do that if it makes you happy, but if you seriously think that then you don't deserve an opinion on anything football related.

how many would you put in each weringo?
seriously, i'm not going to comment on the other teams but in my opinion with everyone fit I'd probably take Gerrard, Torres and on further reflection Reina. Agger, Alonso, Mascherano would provide decent competition for places but i wouldn't have them in my first team personally. Torres would rotate not replace and Gerrard is tricky for me because he's top class but i don't know how well he'd work in our current set up, a goalie is a goalie obviously.

Not got much time to comment but Finnan, Torres, Gerrard, Reina and Carragher would get in United's team for me. Obviously Finnan and Carragher are debatable and wouldn't offer much improvement (if any) over what United already have.

But from a United fan's point of view I'd expect you to want Reina, Torres and Gerrard in your first XI without question.

yeah wouldn't take your defense at the moment to be honest, finnan over brown yes but not a fit neville (disregarding him coming back worse yet). Gerrard is better than what we have currently definitely however i just have this doubt about how he'd fit in to our setup (not his quality as a player). Torres i'd love, i don't think he'd replace Tevez or Rooney but he wouldn't be 3rd choice it'd be a straight up rotate them all game for me.

*edit obviously i wouldn't rotate them 'all game' i meant dependant on the game.

Tbh I can't really think of any I would put in Arsenal's without question. Torres would be good, but Adebayor is pretty good with the style of the team and the same for Eduardo so it wouldn't be black and white.

Possibly Reina over Almunia, but to be honest he's not done anything wrong so far and has been fairly solid since he's been no. 1.
