Altercation with a London Cabbie

Indeed, he may have a number of reports against him and it tips the scale or it's the first of many. It's always worth reporting even if nothing comes of it there and then.

Moral: Take a satnav with you, preplan the route and demand he/she follow it ;)

I do feel sorry for the girl in this instance.. locking the doors was out of order.

Thanks for the link above, she's decided to report it. IMO exchanging a few words is all well and good, move on and forget it but locking the doors on a lone girl is out of order no matter what the situation.

- put it this way, how would you feel if the person who sits next to you at work constantly suggests how you "could" do your job?

If the person sitting next to you was paying you to do the job and you were purposely doing it in the most time consuming manner than thats fine.

Its like going into a cafe and asking for 2 sugars in your tea, or asking for your steak medium rare in a resteraunt.

I'd report him to be quite honest. I can imagine she'd have been scared locked in a cab with a strange guy who is angry at her...

I can't see this being a one off for the driver; what reason would he have to kick off against her out of all the people who have probably suggested a route in the past?

I've asked cabbies to go a certain way before (once), and they haven't commented about it, so it's probably something they get asked a lot.

Report it to the cabbie office, I’m gonna google it for you soon,

They will take it seriously, i know as I did apply for cabbie license once.

He can get his license taken away for something like that.

Behaviour like that is unacceptable.

Don’t just live it alone like that.

Cab drivers must use the shortest route.

Since she has his cab license number/plate number it will be easy for you to complain.

MUST they use the shortest route? Always wondered about this, few lads a few weeks ago near my house gettin aload of abuse off a taxi driver after a night out, turns out when i talked to em he'd taken a completely stupid route which was incredibly longer than what he needed to to get them home, so they told him to get stuffed and wouldnt pay, id see that as perfectly acceptable tbh.

I was told by a friend's grandparent that two of their friends took a cab to the same place as them from the same place and had to pay something like £30 extra (£130 in total). They don't always take the quickest thing, although I'm pretty sure they are supposed to.

The taxi driver probably thought they were really wasted and wouldn't realise/remember and tried to make a bit out of it.

I hate black cab drivers. I use them all the time and I think they are the biggest ***** ever.

Some are ok, but the ratio of how many are complete ***** is amazing. I hate using them, I hate driving near them and i've got so many horror stories or rudeness and incompetence that I regret having to even use them at all.

report the incident to both the pco and your local police force,
behaviour is completely out of order and with the detaining her by locking the doors something the police would take a dim view of. dont know about london but a lot of areas have specific officers to deal with this(taxi police) who will be most interested to hear of this, local authority(aka pco) will also take a very dim view of this and he will be at least hauled up before them to explain his actions.

totally out of order and btw cabbies are supposed to use the shortest route possible unless otherwise directed. something else which the pco would be interested in. (but please check out the possible routes on the sat nav before going down this route. IME london hack drivers do know london better than anyone unless he was just being a robbing sod
