Power-Mad Policeman

Derbyshire Police Control room seems to think it's a bit suspicious and they highly doubt one of their officers would do something like that so they've put out a request that their officers keep an eye out for the car in the area (I didn't get chance to write down the plate etc and wasn't really thinking at the time)

Was he an oldie? we sometimes get old police officers being idiots.. asking for details off our Keyholder register because they know we hold them for their old force..

Perhaps Cyanide - whilst sticking to the speed limits - was all over the road? I've been behind people who've tried to drive at speed and have been all over both lanes on country roads, when it's really quite simple to stay in their own lanes. In fact, I've had it before where someone was driving extremely dangerously (although I'm sure they didn't think so) and I would've happily tried to make them pull over and given them a story about me being a copper if it'd make them calm down ;)

We dont know if he was a saddo in an E39, an E34 or an E60/61 yet :p

We definetly know there's at least one saddo in an E39 going round though. :D

Never even came close to going on the wrong side of the road. Picked the car up on Tuesday, I want to enjoy it but I don't wonna risk stacking it :D

So it's not REALLY a mad policeman, it's an alleged mad "policeman" - I've been pulled over (well attempted) by some idiot with strobes in his headlamps, needless to say I didn't pull over but drove up to a policestation and parked up outside. That was the end of that.

It was probably just some vigilante on some bruised ego because he couldn't keep up with you.

And with all of the OP in mind, why did you not argue with the guy and point it all out to him, or did you think it best to just sit there and nod and then come and tell us?

As easy as that sounds, it can make things much worse than you expect. Could follow you home etc and plus the safety of his passenger is at stake. I would never have stopped in the first place however.

Just nod and say yes sir no sir, three bags full sir.

I got pulled tonight on the way home from work at about half 11 for two reasons apparently. Firstly there are a lot of burglaries in the area (between Coldon Common and Twyford just south of Winchester)

Secondly, I was going "way too fast" when I passed the parked police car. It was an NSL stretch and I was coming down a hill at an indicated 54-55mph when I passed them.

I think they were just bored and had nothing better to do. Probably the same thing happened to you only with an arrogant jobsworth. Maybe he wasn't even a cop, just a saddo playing pretend.

Exactly, either stop, realize its not a policeman and come back at them, or don't stop at all.

Just nod and say yes sir no sir, three bags full sir.

Of course, if its a real policeman doing his job at the time.

Seriously,

A) 207 sport, hardly a Ferrari Enzo......sure you weren't going a little bit mental???

B) I know that only an ***hole policeman bothers to try and people over when they're off duty. Don't worry about it, the guy that pulled you over was clearly a **** copper, not a decent one. No self respecting copper will pull someone over if they're not on duty. Trust me.
