At the end of the day, doing 60 in a residential 30 area is naughty and you do deserve to be punished for that matey. Regardless of what day it was.

Whilst we're here, how much will you be selling your BMW to help fund your fine/ban? ;)
I haven't decided what to do with my car, actually. I am probably going to give it to a friend of mine to keep it on the road :)

Sure, I know the day doesn't make a difference - I was just pointing out that the rush hour thing was irrelevant. I don't need it to sound any worse than it does already!

Fair enough - I don't think you should be punished any more than you need to be because none of us are whiter than white :)

If the car doesnt have video evidence then you stand a chance of getting off.

Considerable excess of 60 miles an hour would mean you were driving like a mad man which i dont really believe was the case.
If you were going that fast they would have pulled you straight away and done you on the spot.

afaik it depends on how many officers were in the car. 1 and there's a chance but if there were 2 then that's almost as good as video evidence as far as a court's concerned.

Accept that you were seriously in the wrong, plead guilty, and learn from your mistakes. I cannot abide by people who do wrong and then try and get out of it.

Serves you right for driving like a prat.

Plead guilty is the best option.
There's not a lot of chance I'll go "not guilty" because of a) the initial cost b) the potential cost if the defence fails c) the hassle.

Would you turn up, or just send a statement? Is turning up, or not, likely to make much of a difference?

Over 60mph through an estate is simply preposterous, you will get banned if the evidence stands up and so you should, I did, and think long and hard about it. You have been a tool, be a man, do something right and take responsbility for your actions and take the punishment. You asked for those with experience of this, well there you go, own your actions and peoples respect will grow for you, its time to be a grown up!

Indeed, crazy, what on earth were you doing to the other driver?

Not going to court generally indicates to the magistrates that you don't really give a flying one and from what I have seen results in stiffer penalties.

Plead guilty in advance, go to court, then explain yourself as best you can. Show remorse, and understanding. You may get off with a lighter punishment than it seems you deserve.
