Just wondering how many of you with a 350D or 400D will update it to the 450D in March/April when it get released?.

I proberly would have if it was out next week, as i was a fan of the size of the 400D but i currently have no Camera so just opted for the 40D which should be here tomorrow morning.:D

I got a 40D last week from a 350D

Bit miffed that the 450D is *so* close to the 40D at first impressions.

Lets hope they have reduced the AF + Noise Performance + whatever else so the 40D is worth it :p

Pretty certain I won't be, I've currently got the 350D and a fair few Compact Flash cards for it, and the 450D takes SD only from what I can see.

You won't spent £500 on a camera upgrade because it will necessitate spending ~£30 on SD cards?

Well it's just another cost to take into account and another reason that would persuade me to make more of an upgrade to a 40D instead

No. There's little point IMHO upgrading from my 350D to the 450D. My next step will either be to go to the 40/50D or to the 7D(?).

The 40D is still in a different league to the 450D. Canon wouldn't have done what they have to give the 450D if they felt it would significantly damage sales of the 40D.

LOL. It's an annoyance, possibly, but it shouldn't deter you. You can always sell the CFs anyway.

I'm looking at the 40D after the summer
for the build, the multipoint focusing and the better metering..
if the 450D has all that I'd be very surprised and maybe tempted for the money

Heres a question, if the 450D comes out soon, how much will the 400D drop to?

How much will the 450D be?

James.

The 6 megapixels in my 300D is still plenty enough pixels for the size of prints I do, so sensor size doesnt really concern me, for that reason a 40D would be my next choice.

I've only had my 400D for a few months but I'm actually quite happy I took the plunge and didn't wait out the 450D.
Don't get me wrong, the 450D looks nice.
However the 400D cost me £350 after cashback - the 450D is expected to sell at around the price the 400D did at release.

The 450D is certainly an upgrade to the 400D - but the extra money I'd rather put towards new glass.

I be tempted to buy the 450D body when the prices come down around the end of summer for a backup body to my 40D just in case something nasty happens .

I have a 350d at the moment and will be looking at the model range of 30/40/50d's in the summer. Need something that is bigger, better build quality and will offer a body I don't have to worry about replacing for 2 years or so.

As mentioned in another post. I still have my trusty 350D so if the 450D drops in at under £500 then yes I will get one! otherwise it may well be worth upping the game a little with the 40D for a bit more!
