Gamerscore Whores

I used too, but i've since realised I was wasting my life and for what? I hope there isn't a next xbox just so people realise they have wasted time on nothing.

Then we can hear and read lines like " I used to have over 100k gamer points on the xbox"

If i'm totally honest with myself COD is the first time in a year I've played a game just because I wanted to enjoy a game rather than a target.

I think I've fallen out of love/interest with gaming. In the last year the only games i've not been dissapointed with has been GH3, R6 and Cod online.

If R6V2 causes me to be my usual dissapointed self I'm selling up and going back to RTS and PC gaming.

I just love achievements rather than the gamerscore. I love seeing that little achievement box popping up - I even have a .wav achievement ding notification on outlook for incoming mail :o

Since Mass Effect, there's been a distinct lack of quality titles. I'm not even sure of what is coming over Jan and Feb. I love getting achievements though! Lately I haven't the time for gaming, and I end up doing other stuff instead. A good thing too.

I wouldnt say i was.

But i am having a brief stint in getting lots of achievments, here's my rental queue for example. Just had Fifa 2006 and NBA 2K6 is on it's way to me, seems swap game works on a sunday. Had Avatar at the start of the month also!

I'm in the same position at the moment. I just don't have the will to put hours into games, and I find less and less that appeals to me now. Between GoW and Bioshock, I think Virtua Tennis was the only game I bought. I can still put hours into a decent footie game, but I usually have to force myself to finish most others, and there are many I never bother finishing.

That's pretty much why I've not bothered with Burnout Paradise, I know I would never put in the hours needed to get the most out of it with it being an open city rather than track based.

I see people raving about games, I try them and I think what a load of old ****. I think I'm turning into a grumpy old ****. Very little I think it's actually decent from the raved about titles.

Biopap, linear dull crud that I ran through with a wrench.
Arseasins crud one level stuck on repeat
Mass Boredom seeing if I can bang one out in the time it takes to run through the dull dialogue between characters.

2007 was supposed to the peak for the 360, when I look through my list of 07 games played it tells a different story :D

I actual prefer the 06 titles I played.

As I say if R6 becomes Rainbow sux i'm going to have to accept i've grown out of gaming.

I first and foremost enjoy playing the game, I like the fact that you do get achievements for "normal" things such as completing HALO 3 on normal and stuff.
Mass Effect is the first game however, where I've decided to get all the achievements, I loved my first playthrough and now im on my second.
Ace Combat 6 is difficult though, one is like 500 online kills and I suck at the game online.
Oh well, I like the achievements part though.

And you were the one going to buy a 120GB HD a few days ago :p

Got to say I agree with you though. So many games didnt live up to the hype, but that didnt bother me since I dont pay attention to it anyway. I've said it before I am more interested in what 2008 has to offer then what 2007 did.

Fable 2
Ninja Gaiden 2
GTA 4
Devil May Cry 4
Splinter Cell Conviction
etc

Very simple games and hard to go wrong if they follow their past successes (bar splinter cell, but I'm looking forward to it because it seems interesting).

If the new Splinter Cell follows the pattern of the Ubisoft Montreal versions being the good ones, then it should be very good.

It comes down to whether you actually enjoyed going through Mass Effect that number of times.
I've played through twice (once on normal, the other hardcore) and have started a couple of other times to get renegade and the tech achivements etc and to be honest I enjoyed my second playthrough as much if not more than the first. I also think it will be fun to play through again on Veteran though I'm having a break and playing other games first.

People tend to think gaming for points (i.e. doing the extra challenges like finding orbs or making 5 head shots in a row) is mutually exclusive to gaming for fun when in reality they don't need to be. Collecting and extra challenges have always been there and people have always been divided when it comes to doing them. Only now there's a perceived reward (achievements) that can be used to show off said efforts has it become such a hot topic.

Played ME 7 times, enjoyed it hugely every time. Played Dead Rising around 8 times - loved it to bits :) But make me collect flags and I will curse you to high hell!

I love the Achievements system, i thin it's a great motivation to play through a game. Saying that however, I only seem to end up with about 50% of them because the others are either a) impossible to get in my lifetime, b) Can only be got by playing multiplayer (Which is ok, on some games but I have others that I will never play online, PDZ for example) and c) involve playing the game soo many times I want to chuck the disc through the window.
Once I have completed a game the first time I am very unlickly to back and do it again.

I get them in games I like, eg 1000 in splinter cell double agent or getting 500 agility orbs in crackdown :P. If it's a cack game i just wont buy it/play it.

I glitched it by accident on paragon. I got an extra 24 paragon asking the same question to this alien on citadel. I then looked it up on an achievements site and if you carry on asking him you max the meter out. So those achievements you can get before you even leave the citadel.

Quite pleased because it then saved having to be a total do-gooder.
