How does this make the UK no 1?!

his origional songs are all legendary, just because hes such a loser etc.
The bird in the vid, oof, shes just too hot, i bet horny young lads sit n order this vid on music channels :)

That's english version of Boten Anna, isn't it? The thing is - the 4x4 beat twinkle little star vocoder tunes appeal to 10-16 year olds (sort of amiga game tunes of today) and that sector is currently the biggest buying force for CD singles. Anyone older and/or with more acquired taste either downloads their tunes or never bother with singles.

It does seem strange that this track is #1 when you consider the fact that there's been dozens of far, far superior dance tracks which haven't been so succesful commerically - even mainstream/cheesy/bass-heavy ones.

Example: "Gamesmaster" by Lost Tribe has a highest UK chart position of #24. There is just no comparison in terms of quality.

Gamemaster is not anywhere near as cheesy as Now You're Gone. NYG is basically a pop song with a "trancey" bit in the middle and they even reduced that bit to about 5 seconds in the English version.

Now You're Gone is a little bit poo after the English version butchered the original and the radio edit butchered the original English version further but neither Basshunter or other similar acts like Cascada deserve the bad repuation that they get. As poor as they are, they are no more unimaginative and a hell of a lot less boring than the current indie stuff that gets played on the radio all the time and does well in the album chart yet the latter is still considered to be 'respectable'. Scouting For Girls being at number one in the albums chart is a bigger travesty. At least Now You're Gone can be made enoyable with enough alcohol, I would want to stay well away from any drug that makes me think that 'Elvis Ain't Dead' is anything other than a pathetic novelty song.

To anybody under 35 ish, this will probably mean nothing, but...........

If you remove the vocals from the basshunter track, it sounds almost identical to the music on most of the old "Dizzy" computer games from Codemasters. :D :D

It's a prime example of why dance music is considered a joke by the general public.

This and crap like Cascada :(

I dont like all the chavs now listening to botten anna and dota ...

His old stuff was not too bad and i normally hate dance music etc.

Possibly it was a bit of an Anthem used by some dodgy DJ out in Ayia Napa or Ibiza over the summer and the thousands of people who went over have now bought it since it went on general release over here?

if that got played out in ibiza then ill eat my left arm

i honestly dont know why people have been buying it ? have radio1 been playing it as a "joke" etc in the past

it was played all over during the summer, ibiza, magaluf etc, its been playing in europe for ages although not this version, the general tune is fairly catchy.

its never been played as a joke tbh, although some of his ORIGIONAL songs have, because they are.
Its just a run of the mill dance tune, its generally catchy no frills bassy tune that gets its playtime in dance clubs, have any of you even been to a dance club? Its starting to sound more like a discussion on one of my uni seminars where everyone thinks the quality nights out are the goth ones, and that the hot girls are all fat and pierced from head to toe.

Obviously its not brilliant, but theres not much quality music these days really, its trashy bands being signed because bands are the in thing, talentless pop groups etc...
What do you think should be number 1 instead? is there even another contender?

You'll find that those of us complaining the most go to 'proper' clubs, not cheesy ones that beer-boys and wannabe wags attend where this sort of tripe is played.

It just sullies all the good dance music that is out there that isn't in the commercial charts.

Last thing we need is more people thinking I like Cascada, Dj Sammy, etc when I say I like trance.
